my best ELW is probably the one where someone tagged the primary which was a class H but either didnt have an advanced disco and so never saw the secondary star system, or couldnt be bothered to fly out there. and yes an ELW. and its all mine. i also found binary ELWs which i have first discovered. but my system that made me head for a station on the colonia route about 11k ly towards Sag A* was found when i was slowly scanning my way through the neutron star belt 1-2k below galactic plane. i found a class H (black hole that is) untagged - which also had 3 untagged neutron stars orbiting it. i HAD to have a class H and what a black hole system to have my name on! it was a huge payout also. i posted it in a thread here as my best discovery or something. so yeah, that one made me divert. and then commanders dropped and someone told me combat in the bubble was fun again instead of impossible so i made the trip back, finished my FAS armed trader (was going to be a combat ship but... i had money left) and then i thought 75 million might buy me a Fer-de-Lance - im back down to 10 mill credits and a half built ship lol. because i need another 46 million JUST for the military bulkheads i want in the ferdy. and then i still have stuff to buy.
i may convert the FAS to a secure fast passenger transport or just do some missions and trading... but deep space is calling. i never thought i would wind up feeling the need to go out again so soon and maybe see Sag A* this time, and land on some of the metal rich planets i can find and drive my srv all over mining stuff. maybe i will find something on the way makes me turn back to sell but it would have to be another special one like maybe multiple black holes or ELWs. or an undiscovered primitive civilisation which has not yet gotten interstellar travel or some long lost galactic naval capital ship or exploration ship or something bizarre. im a bit disappointed - i had engineered level 3 FSD range to 30 ly from 26 ly and my level 5 attempt... it gave me nothing in range until i removed a bunch of things it wont need as a pure explorer now (Weapons for example) but slightly better fuel efficiency. my long trip also impressed on me the need for the most effective and fast fuel scooping possible so i swapped things around and got the biggest one. the reason my trip took so long out and back was not just my avg jump was 25 ly, but also i spent a lot of time scooping. i got my FAS with a big scoop almost by accident and realised i was refueling one jump worth in seconds, rather than 10s of seconds or minutes. hopefully my next trip out will be faster there and back.
