Take on Mars

"Explore the rocky terrain and sandy wastes of the Red Planet. Bohemia Interactive’s Take On Mars places you right in the middle of mankind’s most exciting undertaking. Start out in the seat of a rover operator, finish as the first human to have ever set foot on Mars. With a scientific arsenal at your disposal, you will pioneer the exploration, and colonization, of another planet."

Well, the trailer video has its tongue firmly in it's cheek:

Not sure this is really my cup of tea, but it looks amusingly diverting for a while. Maybe.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
I played it waaay back when it first launched. It was quite rough and not all that fun, really. I suppose I should try again sometime.

Dangers of early-access I guess.

Bohemia has a spotty record when it comes to early-access. 'Day-Z' was the same way. Good idea, lots of hype and years latter...not much progress and even less interest.

But they support their games years after release. They made it known DayZ would take ages to fix up properly. No fake promises from BIS.

I think the key attraction for me would be the 'content creation and modding' strap-line.

If it's as open as Arma, then it's possibly a good foundation for some fun mods.

As it sounds/stands at the moment, I'll add it to my 'wait and see' list.

It started as really cool game about driving remote contolled rovers on Mars, and it was pretty good. After that they pushed for survival on Mars type of game and we ended up with unpolished, extremely clunky... no idea what TOM currently even is. :(

It is a weird game: at the same time it's interesting and cathartically slooooooow. Building bases is quite interesting and you have to consider air pressures and all but it is still slow and tedious. I would recommend it if you enjoy weird, slow experiences, otherwise watch someone stream it.

DrFetid is unable post in this section of the forum so psa.
