"Take out th emplacement generator" at Adams Installation

Did anyone actually finish this mission? I've spent half an hour driving around the base scanning and destroying all i could, nothing happened. By the time i started to get desperate (your turn) another commander appeared, in the ship, and he couldn't find anything that i didn't destroy before either. Is it a bug or i need to get eyes or... something?

There was something obviously named, like "power generator" - I destroyed it and immediately got a mission update.

There were 3 of "settlement power grid" generators, some even with "mission target" on it, destroying it didn't do anything at all.

I have not done that specific mission but I have done many, ,many "Cut The Power" type missions. There should be a generator with the exact name you are looking for that you need to destroy. There may be other alternate named generators. Keep in mind the one you need may be behind some security walls you will need to disable by scanning data points to lower force fields and open up new sections of the base. I like to fly above the base and scout out the structure looking for those security walls as the target will often be behind them. This gives me an idea of where to drive to. Some generators can even be destroyed from the air if you can spot them.

I had problems in 2.0 with cut the power missions not updating despite destroying everything in the base several times, since they all respawn a few minutes later. I did this from the SRV and the ship and still nothing happened, I had to abandon the mission. Seems like it still hasn't been fixed, but if it's a problem that doesn't happen every time it can be hard to put down for good.

2 hours I am on a base.
I have killed ALL turrets, ALL skimmers/guardians, all defense, everything.
I see nothing else to destroy.

I have 50K bounty on my head, repaired my SRV 3 times, synthesis my ammo 3 times. My python is at 12% hull.

This was NO FUN AT ALL !!!

I have not completed this mission, I still wonder if it is possible !

I am mad against frontier today, because you have two choices : Or you abuse of the system, choosing only easy missions, unlog/relog in the game to have them, or you can play the game honestly, and sometimes you have this.

I wanted to spend a few hours in the game, having fun, but instead of that, I am raging on my computer because of a unskilled developper did that. How am I suppose to want to give you my money to pay some people like that ?

I never had any problems completing these missions (prior to 2.3), but now I can't even get these & other surface missions (most of the time).
However, from memory:

You've destroyed everything except what you're supposed to destroy - the power generator. That can only be damaged from the correct side (for some reason), and it takes a fair bit of shooting before it is destroyed (with no visual indication it's been destroyed!). At least it is marked as a power generator (?) if you target it with the SRV's turret.

I found this one of the most fun & involved missions (when I could get them - sigh), because (depending on the difficulty of the mission) you sometimes have to work out how to take-down a shield generator (or somehow get around it!) before you can get to the power generator, at which point all hell breaks loose because you're now classed as an enemy by the installation's defences & the alarm klaxons are blaring at you the whole time. And you sometimes have a ship defending the site to make this extra tricky. And you may have to enter a restricted area just to disable the shield generator!

I haven't seen one of these missions in a LONG time, but then I haven't been in much of "civilized" space for a while either.. but I always love base raid missions. They're just fun, and I've never had a problem actually completing one. Fines, yep. Bounties - yep, but always been able to complete.

OP, before you went to do the mission, did you get a mission update in your comms panel? Try this..

Honk with an ADS while in supercruise, or (even better) go visit the nav beacon. See if you get a mission update and, if you do, try again.

Any time you take on a new surface mission, it's best to drop in on the nav beacon for a mission update.

Wait, do people use SRVs for these missions?? I just blast the base with dumbfire rockets from the safety of my ship. Have you tried that?

If base point defense is an issue, you can use multicannons, too. My engineered ones work nicely.

That's not how you are supposed to do these missions, and FDev have previously attempted to prevent you from using your space ship to complete them (and other surface missions that could be done in an SRV).

Of course feel free to do it how you want, but I find the SRV experience more fun anyway (except for the rubbish turret control method).

The other day I took out the generator, got no confirmation of the mission being completed, when I got back to mission giver I was able to hand the mission in.

Haven't tried multis. I've used cannon though, and they worked well. The best thing I've found though, for the point defense, is to put one missile rack in the first fire group, and another (or as many as you can) in the second. Then fire 1, half second pause, fire 2. The point defense targets the first salvo and the second goes right through.
