Personally i'd be just as happy if Frontier decided to add an extra year on their development time. I'm more concerned they get this right first time out of the gate rather than meeting a deadline.
Welllll, maybe not a year, lol... Actually it raises an interesting point for me though. Here we are about to start Alpha. We have no NDA, we can freely stream, record/upload and comment on the build. I believe we the community have the responsibility to really help Frontier make the right calls here if we discover that Elite isn't quite ready.
Obviously WE don't decide when a game is officially ready, but constructive feedback is obviously important, but don't forget the public nature of this. By that i mean anyone streaming and recording is also helping shape other people's first impressions.
We have seen what can happen when a game comes out half baked and i am certainly glad at the high quantity of backers being involved in the Alpha and more so Beta to help Frontier... I have seen videos in the past of Alpha builds and Beta and they are almost recorded as game reviews and alas the internet often treats them that way. People see bugs and stay clear. Yes they might come back later to check, but first impressions are important.
Anyway, back to the original point, i agree Frontier should take their time if needed and i think Frontier have already planned for that with the Gamma testing cycle as well, so i am certainly not concerned. Quite the opposite.
