Taking a Cobra Mk V to Beagle Point

Inspired by a similar thread, I decided on a whim to take a Cobra Mk V to Beagle Point. (I'm certain I'm not the first one, but anyway.)

Traversing the Neutron Highway...

I stopped by Colonia on the way to restock before heading to the deep black:

While traveling towards my next destination I noticed a nice stellar nebula with a neutron star near my route, so I decided to make a small detour there:

Said destination was the famous black star in the Phimbeau AA-A h76 system. The star is really ominous when you jump into the system.

Fuel-scooping...

I encountered a really beautiful ammonia world along the way:

My next destination was the other famous black star in the Splojeia AA-A h19 system. Some nice commander had their fleet carrier there, where I could fully restock.

Continuing the voyage, I encountered a really peculiar system that had one single planet, a water world, orbiting a neutron star and a brown dwarf:

In another system I decided to stop by an atmosphered planet that was orbiting a neutron star in order to see what it looks like:

Finally, I got to Beagle Point:

How was the Cobra Mk5 compared to a DBX or an Asp?
The lower jump range (65 Ly when fully fueled, about 72 Ly when using the last of the fuel, which the Spansh galaxy plotter can optimize for) hurts a bit compared to the actual exploration ships (eg. with the DBX you can bet over 80 Ly when fully fueled), but that just means some more jumps. (For example from the bubble to Colonia I think Spansh gave me 107 jumps, while with the DBX it gives me something like 85.)

In this trip I could stay much more easily inside the jet stream of neutron stars while supercharging, but I don't know if it's because of the ship or just because I have got better at it (I'm still relatively new to neutron star jumping). I suppose I would need to test with another ship to see if it's the ship that affects it.

Maneuverability in supercruise is similar to if not even a bit better than the Mandalay, and definitely better than the Krait Phantom, and somewhat better than the DBX and AspX. That helps when you need to go to the star to refuel after supercharging, or if you get thrown out of the jet stream before the supercharging is complete.

Other than that, not much difference, really. When going to a more distant planet or secondary star the exceptional SCO handling is a godsend, although you get about the same with the Mandalay. (Obviously with the old ships it's much worse.)

That's great to hear because I think quite a few people will bring their Cobra Mk5 to DW3 😁 That transparent cockpit floor must be fantastic for a good view and for exobiology.
