taking on multiple missions is still broke i see :(

i am glad they fixed the bug where if you had 3 missions to scan or shoot an emplacement/generator it completed all of them...

however i notice that it is now broken in a different way and it actually makes it pretty fiddly.

i was playing with a mate and there were 3 "shoot generator" missions going to the same system. we both took all of them, expecting to be either different generators at the same base, or possibly different bases all together (admittedly the latter would have been ruled out had i read mission text properly)

so we go there and all the missions are to the same place and for the same generator.

now, as i said at the start, i totally get why they needed to fix doing 1 thing completing every single mission regardless of faction in your mission table... however imo this is just as broken now.

the only way to do this (other than presumably logging in and out which is kind of game braking for me) was to blow up the generator, run away, get in ship, go to supercruise then come back down and rinse and repeat... which makes even less sense than had all 3 missions (given to me from the same person) completed in 1 go.

The ideal scenario would be for these missions to take me to a different base, OR to a different generator (destroy security power generator, and destroy settlement generator for instance could work on the same base)

but if FD cant do that for what ever reason surely they could filter it so that the same mission giver would only ever offer 1 mission to blow up the same generator? because right now it is not working imo.

other than that it was great. i apprectiated the new planet surface types and blowing up settlements is as fun as ever... i think they are a little harder than they used to be as well which is good.

or am i missing something?

Note i am not asking FD to nerf anything... this has nothing to do with credit earning, but more, making the missions make sense.

thanks

Only in Elite's world is blowing the same object up for three different factions required to instance-hop to do it three times over.
I mean, surely - logically speaking - there may be three different factions wanting the same object to be blown up, and doing it once should make'em all happy in one go?
Nah, not using Elite's logic.

So in a typical Frontier "solution", the actual problem remained while the applied solution made everyone's life more miserable.
How... unsurprising and amusing at the same time.

AFAIK it actually DOES work for different factions (3 missions from 3 different factions to blow something up i *think* would all complete correctly (i could be wrong) but these missions were specifically given to me from the same person.

Is the same fer urgent assassination orders...go scan the data point in the base to get targets location. Stack several and they all go to the same base and the same data point...scan the point and it reveals target location fer just one.

So ok, they fixed that part...now I just need to figure out how to survive the onslaught that follows. When ye do, theres a mechanic used to reset the base...similar to board flipping...log out, make a cuppa tea, log back in and rinse and repeat earlier steps.

So the moral of the tale is...ye can still stack them and still complete them all...only now ye get to board flip after taking the missions as well as before. Its fixed Jim but not as we know it ^

Well said

Generators reset after a few minutes. Go in, take out the generator, go out again, fly around playing tag with PAs in a canyon with your mate for minute, then go back, the generator will be back up. Either that or log off and on.

'Tis a touch silly.

thanks. i didnt know that.

In that case, I stand corrected on the first part of my post.
Though the way the "issue" as "addressed" remains on point ;)

thanks. i didnt know that.

its a segue - but as i am op i am ok with that - but imo one reason the missions bug me is everything seems so arbitrary.

we take down a power generator...... but nothing happens, there is no reason for it. i suppose something could be going on inside the base that we cant see but.......

imagine if the mission was.

CMDR we need to break someone out being held in detention in base XYZ. we need you to power down the settlement generator on our mark and then distract the security whilst we break out our guy.

i take on the mission... at this point, even if there was another mission to the base, i would not be able to take it on, because, rather than some arbitrary thing, i now am teamed up with an npc who presumably would not want someone else along for the ride.

at this point, i am in a temporary wing with another ship, we both land at the base and deploy SRVs..... i get myself in position, as does the npc who is doing the breakout. i send a message to the npc, that i am ready, he replies with a "go command" when he is positioned.

at that point i take down the generator, the npc srv drives in, whilst i distract the security, then 20 seconds later drives out again, and we both do a runner........

should the npc blow up, its mission failed.

what we have there is a fully fleshed out mission and it would "feel" better and it is totally obvious why we cant stack them at the same time. it woudl also potentially be harder as there are more points of failure so would pay more.

it boggles me why so long after horizons launched this kind of, pretty meat and potatoes kind of mission is not in the game imo... it would make me way more invested in the game... (and i am already pretty invested in it!)

cranking this up to the next level..... (and maybe getting more dreams and wishes rather than something FD may give us)

a wing version of this mission would be at a high security base where we would also combine this with a destroy skimmer mission as we have to clear out the skimmers defending the base AND take out the generator all within a time limit before support arrives.
