Taking the eagle for a short loop - Diary

Hey CMDR's
i've decided to give DeeGee (my Sidey) a break for a few days and built up an Eagle. (Eleanor)
my plan is to make a loop starting from the bubble around past the California nebula and Bernards loop and back to the bubble again, stopping off to see some sights along the way.

Here is a picture of my waypoints.

http://prntscr.com/bgu7xm

Waypoints-

- 1 Pleiades Nebula
- 2 California Nebula
- 3 Bernards Loop
- 4 Orion Nebula
- 5 Ez Orion
- 6 Witchhead Nebula
- 7 Betelgeuse

If you can recommend more Please do :)

This is my first time out in Eleanor (the eagle) and im already feeling confident and really enjoying the feel of her.
This is her setup

I'll be leaving right away to at least reach the first waypoint to land on a planet and explore then carry on for the California Nebula tomorrow

Okay guys i've made it to the first waypoint. (Pleiades Nebula)
http://prntscr.com/bgwj4n

After exploring the nebula looking for a little moon to land on i came across this system.
http://prntscr.com/bgwjln
i wasnt expecting to find life out this far but it turns out it is currently controlled by the Ant Hill Mob. Anyway, this is where i've landed for the night.
if you look at the bottom left of the picture above you willl see a black hole so i'll be sure to check that out first thing tomorrow and get a good picture if i can.

here are some pics from so far

http://prntscr.com/bguww2
http://prntscr.com/bguv4v
http://prntscr.com/bguprh - I took this screenshot because i was amazed at how much was packed into one system.

I saw this little moon and could'nt help but go for an explore in the SRV.

http://prntscr.com/bgtzxu

One thing im really liking about the eagle is the fact i can see the wing from the cockpit
http://prntscr.com/bgu18m

One last picture as she currently sits waiting for tomorrow's trip to the California Nebula.

i'm also wondering if while im in a station for the last time until the end of the trip should i swap out my SRV for a Fuel tank or a DSS.
Let me know what you think :)

2nd waypoint down (California Nebula)

Hey CMDR's,
I have made it to the 2nd waypoint (California Nebula).
http://prntscr.com/bh7ms9

I have traveled 982LY's from my starting point.

On my travels i came across a few interesting things.

A Type-K orange Giant from the surface of a planet 451ls away.

I jumped into this system and couldn't help but take a picture of them solar flares.

Some amazing pics of the California Nebula

Cool stuff! Was at the California Nebula a couple of weeks ago. Be warned - you MAY find some locked systems around Barnard's Loop and the Orion Nebula - just passed that way as part of the Crab Nebula Expedition.

Yeah i've noticed, I was going to go to the Horsehead Nebula but it was locked, shame but excited to see why and what comes from it.

Halfway

Hey CMDR's,
We have hit the half way mark!!
Unfortunately we have hit a slight problem, As you can see in the pic below our next stretch down to Bernards Loop is all blocked off and i can't seem to get around this massive locked area. i will be checking again tomorrow if i can make it to Bernards Loop from where i currently am.

I love Eagles. I would never explore in one but I have a 440 armor tanked eagle that is awesome for bounty hunting. Great pics CMDR!

I am noticing why they ain't designed to be explorers. the hull for example is paper thin with a light shield so for travelling long distances im having to be really careful when landing on planets. plus i've had to leave my srv behind as it weighed it down too much.
But despite all of this, i am enjoying flying her she just needs plently of tlc along the way.

my next trip will be in something bigger though as im planning to go alot further out and need more internals, i will say though, there's nothing like the pleasure of taking an underdog out into the unknown and grabbing some great pics along the way.

and thanks i try my best :)

Great work Cmdr <O

Good to see more and more Cmdr's heading out in uncommon ships. The Eagle is a fun little ship and more capable than many give it credit for.

Safe travels Cmdr!

i always like an underdog, the adder is a fantastic ship with more internals and looks great imo if your looking for a small upgrade - take a basic or intermediate discovery scanner if its a bit expensive :)

I'm not entirely sure who this Bernard that everyone's talking about is, but I'm pretty sure he's got nothing to do with Barnard's Loop ;)
He lives there on an ELW, He says its a great view :)

Whoa, almost missed this thread. (wrong triggers in the title ;))

Nice trip and nice pictures! Oh, and the ship is not bad either...

Fly safe,
CMDR Jermus

Respect!

It's nice to know fellow Eagle pilot going on an exploration trip :)

I'm a part of Crab Nebula Expedition. Knowing there are more Eagle explorers out there, it really helps me keep going too! I'm currently at Seagull Nebula, and I still have a loooong way to go.

Here's my first ammonia world discovery on the trip
