Tall Tales

There might (must) be an old thread of stories, but I couldn't find it.

New'ish to forums, but been playing solid since beta (or for 25 years if you count elite-64...)

Anyway, here's a strange thing that happened to me:

I was exploring out towards one of the nearest nebula, a newbie in my Adder just enjoying exploration. I was far enough out to be out of the bubble, but there was an occasional NPC ship in system as I went along, usually something with a decent jump range, like a python or anaconda, or an Asp. They generally were peaceful, and I kind of assumed they were explorers or prospectors. Not exactly deep space, but out of the way.

I come across one system and my scanner is packed. 20-30 ships on scan. I think that it's odd, but it does make scanning easier, as I can just follow the ships until my stock discovery scanner can pick up the planets.

When I've finished scanning the system, I notice three odd things: Firstly, all the ships on scan are Eagles. Every. Single. One. Second, there are no stations in system for them to base out of, nor are there any ELWs. Finally, there is an ammonia world with life in the system (twinned with a water world if I recall).

For the life of me, I can't figure out why the Eagles had spawned there. I do recall from previous games that Thargoids were natives of ammonia worlds. So my best theory is that the ammonia world houses a conquered or abandoned Thargoid colony with a research facility there. The Eagles patrol the system to keep the curious from approaching the planet. Not that they kept me from scanning the planet, but beats me why they were there otherwise.

I've heard that the devs have scattered strange things to find across the galaxy, but this is the only thing that has struck me as "odd" - so far.

If you've got some tall tales to share, I'd like to hear them.
