Tapir animal limit

I have had 1M and 1F Tapir in a zoo a while ago but now am having alerts come up in a new zoo.

I have the same numbers but the habitat gives me a warning on the Animals tab in red and when I click on it it lists two animals but has a red number 1 as if I have too many in the enclosure. However the social tab on the animals look OK and I have no pop up warnings. Should I just have 1 in the enclosure or what could this be if anyone has any ideas please ? The Zoopedia says up-to 1 male, up to 1 female (I am not sure if there should be and 'and' or a 'or' in the middle).

That alert has nothing to do with the amount of animals I think. You usually get that alert if an animal is pregnant, are on birth control or are sick or hurt. You can have one male and one female of the Tapirs, if that were not possible breeding them would be impossible

Have you checked their stress? Stress falls under the 'social' tab. The animals get stressed if they are too exposed to the public or their exhibit is too crowded by people.

It's stupid, but it's a feature.

Thanks for the ideas, I forgot to add I am running in Sandbox and have all animals features disabled at the moment. This is means 100% welfare but I have double checked that, they wouldn't be hurt or ill but maybe it is just the female is pregnant although there is no sign of that anywhere else.

Turning off welfare doesn't work properly for a lot of players - it seems to just be cosmetic. Welfare appears at 100% but everything still decays, including stress, and you still get alerts.
