target dot is gone

so when i was using my mouse there was a dot in the center of my cross hair and there was ever so slight target guidence. now that i switch to the thrust master Tflight, the dot is gone and my weapons dont aim center, they fire complete straight and not center. did i push a button to turn that off? i can't find anything that seems like the option for it

There's a toggle in the mouse section of the controls to turn that dot back on. Not sure the actual name, sorry. It shouldn't affect you shooting, though.

wait so it's only for mouse? i can't hit anything with out that dot in my joystick cause especially for smaller ships, i have to only aim with one laser and the other one aims at dead space.... that would be a huuuuuge disadvantage to the joystick

Make sure your mouse is set to control the ship as well (in other words, set your mouse axes to movement axes in the settings). You will then be able to steer the ship with both your mouse and your joystick at the same time (pull left on the joystick and right on the mouse for example, for some funny effects).

As long as the mouse is set to steer the ship, you can see the dot. The dot is actually a seeing aid for the mouse arrow which appears when you use the mouse for steering. You should be able to leave the mouse alone in some corner so that it does not impact your flying, or set the deadzone for the mouse axes to maximum, at which point it will not steer.

I also have the mouse set for viewing, so when I unlock the mouse look, the dot disappears but I can pan around the cockpit.

i think what is actually going on is i just got a cobra and the two small hard points are fairly distant apart and since i placed fixed on them it's hard to have both of them on a small target.... right?
