Which is the more accurate way of aiming?

Leading or trailing.

What are the pros and cons of each?

I have found leading to be more effective for me as the targeting reticule moving around all the time is annoying.

i find it to be a matter of taste, nothing else.
the "better" method is the one you feel more comfortable with....so you found your setting already

Seems like it. Got Standard Beta yesterday as a birthday present, been doing the combat scenarios and I got mullered with trailing mode in the recon scenario but the next two with leading I got them all in the first go.

Question though, what do the two little dots mean near the target reticule mean?

if i understand what you mean by the little dots...those are actually your reticules. the cross just marks the center of the screen.
you might notice them moving when close to your target. this is the "aim assist" even fixed weapons provide.
