CQC Team deathmatch and Capture the Flag - does anybody play it?

Hello commanders,

these days I get connected to a game only in case of Deathmatch (and it takes 5-10 minutes).

In case of Team deathmatch or Capture the flag, I can wait as long as one can imagine, a match is never found.


About a year ago, when I was more active in CQC, I used to play Team deathmatch the most... I had no "no matching" issue whatsoever...

Capture the Flag, I was not yet EVER connected to a game :( And I really always wanted to try it out, but waiting 20+ minutes for a match? No, thank you, my gaming time is limited...



What is your experience with matchmaking?

CTF is the least popular CQC mode. I'd say it is highly unlikely you'd find a match without something having been arranged specifically beforehand (or ED doing one of his CQC streams).
Joining/using the CQC discord ( https://discord.me/elitedangerouscqc ) is probably the best way of arranging something with other players - last night there were DM matches going on where everyone in the arena was also on discord, so it's quite popular...

Me neither and I'm at hero rank. Team Deathmatch used to be popular last year but since then you're mainly limited to deathmatches. Although I spent hours queuing on bank holiday Monday and didn't get a match. Some people from the CQC discord were playing later that evening but by then, I'd lost motivation :(.

TDM requires 6 people; DM only requires 4. Also, when people (like that Discord) schedule TDM, it means there's only two open slots for people who weren't part of the scheduled match, so the odds of getting in are rather low.

That said, I only play TDM and I put in a few hours a week. It's possible to get games. Join the Discord.

CTF is dead though.

I like CTF. Hop on to discord and post a message if anyone wants to play. Historically the best time to get a match is EU evenings and Saturdays (evenings).
There is currently an announcement that tries to to gather people for Tuesday and Saturday evenings. So far three was 9 for T and 13 for Saturday. I think it may be a great opportunity to ask for CTF.

The advantage of the Discord is that you if you ask you may be heard and receive.

As for the experience, I have played CTF some times. I'd say about 60-70% of team arenas are TDM, rest is CTF. But then, I would have to verify that number with my stats.
