Newcomer / Intro Teamspeak

Though I've never visited it myself, the general Elite: Dangerous reddit community has a Discord channel for voice chat, which you can find linked in the sidebar of https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous. Most of the Powerplay factions (list Here) also have their own Teamspeak servers, or in some cases Discord (my own power, for example, has both), and the same goes for many non-PP player groups. But as a new player, you are probably better off in the general discord chat. Not that you wouldn't be welcome elsewhere - in general, Elite: Dangerous has a welcoming community, and I know for a fact that the people in the Mahon teamspeak would be perfectly willing to answer questions even for someone who isn't doing powerplay and is just new to the game.

Hi to all new players of Elite Dangerous.

Just in case you were unaware the lovely folks at Frontier have a dedicated support portal called the Galactic Academy.

This is where more established Commanders will be happy to help you in a mentoring capacity and there's a wealth of tutorials and great videos to watch.

If you click on the big round thing below it will take you to the website where there is loads of great info on how to start and progress in the game.

Have fun and Right on Commanders. :)

Commander name: caliban55 (Mentor)

Area(s) of expertise: Pretty much covering most aspects of Elite: Dangerous, and then some... Mainly focussing on getting new players on the right track, explaining basic interface and flight mechanics and the first steps and missions to get you along the road. The idea is to get you out of the docking clamps and into space within a few minutes and give you some hints of what missions to look out for (courier) and which missions to avoid (assassinate ship xyz...). How do I land on a planet and why does my SRV do those somersaults?

If I am available, I will wait in one of the voice channels (Discord, Teamspeak) and then we will get you ship-worthy together.
