Hi Commanders,
My bounty hunting adventures in Eruku (?) have taken a turn for the profitable! I picked up a mission to hunt down and kill 6 pirates and end there days of yahhhing around the galaxy. I launched in my trusty cobra and took off from Dana Platform and noting that no resource extraction sites existed in this dim little system, I headed for the Nav Beacon with all haste.
Promptly on arrival, I was scanned by some jolly roger flying sidewinder, who promptly told me how lame I was for not carrying cargo. Our first catch of the day! I turned my cobra and hulled the sidewinder, sending the would be pirate in to the void. Due to either a very cunning or stupid plan I was forced to supercruise out of the nav beacon and straight back in to tempt more pirates into my cobra's fangy jaws. Four more times I did this until I took my 5th pirate, only one to go, and bounties aplenty.
On my last attempt, a mighty Anaconda appeared, scanning and telling me how worthless I was. A quick scan told me that pirate Mike Lawson was most definitely wanted, but he was also one of the Elite. Now this didnt impress me much, as elites seem a dime a dozen around the galaxy, frankly they must be handing out elite badges in cereal packets, but I was still a bit cautious in attacking this beast.
I held back and noted that several plucky Fed vipers decided to tackle l33t Mike in his Anaconda. Here was a fight more to my liking!
I dived bombed my Cobra straight at the monster, opening up with my beams and multi-cannons ( I do not pack canons as I am not compensating for anything ), my hellfire rained like a gentle sprinkle on the Anaconda, while the Fed ships whittled away his shields to nothing. Aha! Elite Anaconda's are a piece of cake! Or so I thought. When the Anaconda's hull reached a battered 75% his shields came back on, and I noticed that one of the Fed vipers was no longer there. Curious I thought, until I noticed that the shields where down on the remaining viper, and suddenly "Contact Lost". Mmmm while I did the math, the Anaconda turned on me and made my shields vanish as well.
Bravely I made a run for it back towards the Nav beacon. Strangely it seems that space is teeming with good Samaritans because a Python decided at that point to engage the Anaconda toe to toe. Now this was just another pilot, not a fed. Seeing my chance I turned my guns back on the Anaconda. And together the Python and I managed to get Mike Lawson and his Anaconda to 23%. At this point, I scanned the Python and noticed that it had no shields and was very close to a fiery death. As its funeral pyre lit up my screen, I turned and fled again. The Anaconda worrying my tail all the way. Three of four more Fed ships came to my aid, each getting blown away by the big Anaconda, the last just left spinning in space with 5% left on it (assume it was a thruster hit), and still the Anaconda came on. At this point I was doomed, the cobra was in bad shape and I was ready to make a break, but yet another Fed viper arrived, the a Fed dropship and then a Fed Anaconda, game on!!!
I flipped my cobra, took some serious hits on the nose and tried my best to help my Fed buddies. I came to a halt bravely firing my little guns at the big ship and finally got that last 1%. Boom, 112k credits bounty, I am rich.
I felt triumphant, not particularly brave, but triumphant. Many, many pilots came to my aid, and died, while i ran and dodged and ran. I will always remember that brave Python who put there ship on the line ( and died), and I will never forget the Fed viper, slowly spinning, thrusters blown out, waiting for death.
Huzzah!
