Telescope view.

All of the specks of light that are present when you look out of your cockpit are actual places that correspond to places on the galaxy map.

Frequently I'll see something that piques my interest yet the chances of matching what you see through your pilot's eye view to the galaxy map are next to impossible. You could be looking at a local star or a highly luminous class O supergiant several thousand light years away.

It would be great to have some kind of telescope or monocle view that would allow you to isolate a part of the sky box and allow you to select what you see as a destination or link you to it on the 3d map.

I agree. It would be nice to have some kind of navigation view mode where you can select stars from the cockpit view and at least see the name and distance.

Basically want an additional target system bind and a reticule of some kind to aim - trouble is, I doubt the 'sky' map painted around you when you jump into a system is dynamic enough to contain all the id's of the actual systems shown to allow you to identify them, more than likely just a 'dumb' bitmap.

This is a fantastic idea. I think we should be able to use telescopes on planetary bodies while exploring or while scouting. It could be a scanning mini-game where we get useful spectral data about a target too.

I have to agree with this one.
