Terraforming Talk

Hi guys, I'm new to the forum, watched one video about this game and as someone who loves building sandboxes, I immediately was sucked in. :D

I have a question about Terraforming. If you want to place underground structures, or something located inside a mountain, is it easier to dig a hole or build the structure and place /bury it inside a mountain? Or are both strategies, depending on the circumstances equally viable? Are there any collision issues when terraforming bumps up against a structure? Will the ground be stopped or will it just engulf and fill the structure?
Thanks! :)

I've seen both approaches used, although I think burying is supposed to be easier. Terrain will not cause collisions when it bumps up against a structure, but instead flow around it. I've begun messing with heavy-duty terraforming myself lately, so my advice is to experiment. A good tip I learned today: Using the "[" and "]" keys while terraforming can make some really cool shapes. Start a fresh sandbox and just muck about until you start seeing things you like. I wish there were more YouTubes on advanced terraforming, as I need all the pointers I can get myself! [happy]

Thanks I appreciate it. There is a lot to get familiar with when first starting. :)
