Territorial rules and external influncers

Jens,

Maybe you can answer this, maybe not.

I noticed that at the start of the AT, that Stegosaurs and Triceratops appear to be in in the same herd, or at least in close proximity to each other. I know the sequence is a set piece to show off the idea of interspecies herding, but it has led me to some interesting thoughts and questions concerning Territoriality in game play.

We know from the SFG's and FF, that Stegos and Trics do not get along and they will contest each other. Now in the AT, there is none of that, and from what I see is that the mixed herd is moving towards something, or dare I say away from something, as with a single mind.

There is a lot of dust in that sequence, it appears that there is an incoming sand storm. This leads me to the question:

Can environmental events, temporarily circumvent the Territoriality rules between species that normally would fight for dominance? It's the fight/flight theorum, and in the AT it appears that flight has been triggered.

If the answer is yes, then that brings up the next question:

Could a carnivore activly hunting cause the same thing?

This has the potential to have a huge impact on game play. Once the cause event completes it's cycle, what kind of chaos will it leave? Will the different species move off to reestablish thier territories or will territorial dominance fights breakout all over the place? The potential 'cleanup' from such an event may be too time consuming and just feed right into the next catastrophy without giving the player a moment of respite to prepare. I just hope some consideration and playability tweekng has been implemented.
