General Gameplay Territories and territorial combat.

Your Feature Request / Idea
So this is kind of an AI update and may be covered by one of those threads, so my apologies if it's already been mentioned.

I would personally like to be able to have a "Dinosaur territory" management view. So for example, you open the management view tab - you click on Dinosaur territories and each one lights up with a different translucent colour, with the Dinosaurs staying with in this territorial boundry, unless it needs to leave for food or water. Larger carnivores like Spinosaurus, Tyrannosaurus and Giganotosaurus will naturally have larger territories for hunting, so this could allow two large Theropods of different species to live in the same enclosurepeacefully unless the enclosure isn't big enough to account for both territorial sizes.

So for example, if you built an enclosure which is 30x30 in size and the Rex has a 15x15 territory and the Spino has a 20x20 territory, they will fight for territory. But if you built a 40x40 enclosure - they wouldn't fight unless 1 is starving.

This I feel would encourage AI herding for herbivores and less carnage with the carnivores because lets be honest here... When you look at the current animal kingdom, Lions, Tigers, etc won't attack each other unless it's absolutely needed - as in fighting over a carcass, protecting young(which we don't have in JWE) or trying usurp the already established Alpha of the group.

Hopefully this isn't too complicated to implement, as I feel it would greatly improve the game.

I have actually already made a post about this but I agree this would be a good feature as it will make it more easier for multiple types of dinosaurs to live together with out the constant fights for no reason.

And this is exactly how it should be in JWE too. I've already posted somewhere that territorial behaviour would nicely solve the problem with the T-Rex social limit and even most species social limits. Also, it would really add a layer of realism to that "vital space need" that each dino has.

Yet, this is, along with herding, flocking and pack-hunting is what I think should be the core of the big AI revamp the game needs the most now, so I'm 5-starring this!

Hmmm... I can't remember seeing those animals enclosed together before, or am I wrong? Might be a reason for that... I don't think you can throw a couple of tigers in a lion paddock without them fighting to the death...

I have seen plenty of these clips, raised in captivity.

Actually, I’m not so sure….I think there might have something to do with how they were brought up? Or they may adapt to and depend on resource availability? It surely is an interesting topic to look into.

Aside from some dominance/territorial behaviour, carnivores usually don't fight if there are enough food avaliable. They may fight over a carcass, if there is only one, but rarely to death. How the are raised also helps a lot but, still, unless both were heavily dominant/territorial, and their habitat was short of space of food, they wouldn't fight.

Yes you're right, if they are brought up together from birth, no problem. :D
