Test your system brightness for me

I'm out in deep space so I don't know if this applies to the bubble, but all info helps.

When you first start the game, look around at the background stars and the Milky Way, and note how dim and/or bright everything is.
Now go to options > graphics > and click apply. Don't change anything.
When you resume, has everything brightened up? It does for me, but it shouldn't.

Yea there are some lightning issues if you don't click apply and whatnot the lights on the mailbox don't show and when you fly around in supercruise and see another ship you will only see its 'tail'

As of 1.4.1 (last night) mine works without doing the "apply fix." The mailslot is fixed anyway. Are you saying it is still messed up OP?

Seems to be fixed for me since the last update, all the cockpit lights are on from start up

That's the point, it should be fixed with 1.4.1. But clicking 'apply' without changing anything makes the galaxy brighter.

I can't tell if the galaxy is too dim and clicking 'apply' fixes it, or if clicking apply sets the brightness higher than it should be. It does brighten it though.
