Testing Holo-Me, I has questions

Not sure if we need to make a total "how to" for holo-me stuff, but for those of us who didn't have the beta to play with....

Just tried it out, created a character face. Noted a few things: hair and face seem to have really garish features on it, like the colors keep changing on each as the face keeps looking around the room. I had everything set on ultra and I've seen other's characters so there may be something in graphics I may need to adjust.

Camera suite: Wow, trying to figure out what key goes where to do what is going to take hours. Anyone using a PC that can point to a youtube of what the best suggestions for keybindings should be gets a huge virtual hug.

Also, why two sets of "toggle on" for the ship and SRV camera suite? It used to be control-alt-space for both. Why is there a different on required for the SRV now?

BTW, I'm on keyboard and mouse.

Also, BTW, if needed, is there any way to re-set the camera's back to zero and start over?

I have to assume this is a graphics setting causing this:

Might be graphic driver related - might be worth trying newer or even older ?

Original drivers, GTX970. I've never changed them. So far, the only thing "glitchy" has been the face of this character. Should I move a slider on something down a bit?

Definitely a problem with either your graphic drivers (likely) or graphics card. Update your drivers now. If that don`t work, you may need a new card.

There was only one time in my life that I had to upgrade graphics drivers. It wasn't.....pleasant, hence my reluctance. HOWEVER, in the interest of science....

Ewww. Sorry to say but your commander seems to have caught a Thargoid STD. Dibs on your ships.

5,500 LY from Sag A* right now but I was certain he had his shots before we left. [where is it]

FYI, currently sitting here with the NVIDIA GeForce Experience screen saying yes, there's an update, etc. Clicked "download updated drivers". That was about 30 minutes ago. I can only assume there must be a traffic jam at Nvidia's server farm.

Update your drivers right now. I can't believe you are still using dated drivers. I don't update quite often (every 2 months or so) but it is mandatory for new features in games, and it will give you a little boost in performance in some cases.

Here is the Nvidia's site so you can download the new drivers:http://www.nvidia.co.uk/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-uk

Before installing those I recommend you to use DDU to uninstall the driver first in safe mode (easy to use program, hit the button with the option to restart in "safe mode", hit the button that says "uninstall drivers and clean registry" and it will reboot your PC again, then install the newer drivers and play): http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

Same GPU here and no issues.

OMG! Were you fuel scooping with a broken canopy?

It certainly looked that way, didn't it???

After about an hour, I manually went to the link you had posted (went there before reading this, sorry). Finally got the update.

FYI, the last time I updated graphics drivers was when I replaced one card with another in order to play Morrowind.

It was a mess. I had never updated graphics drivers before. Finally wiped the enter system and started from scratch (yeah, all of it was backed up, I'm very good about that).

Since that incident, I have been reluctant to upgrade sound or graphics drivers. If everything has been working fine up to this point, I don't fix it (it wasn't broke). Original drivers worked right up to this point today, obviously exposing a need to upgrade.

Unfortunately, I let everything upgrade and install automatically before I saw your posting here about cleaning things out first. I'll post again in a few minutes after I find out of this worked or not. :S

Seems to have worked. :) Thank you very much.

Hope it fixes your issue...don't be afraid of learning how to do it. You just have to do it right once, and then is all the same. ;)

EDIT: Yes!!! Nice job CMDR! Now enjoy!

If you leave the SRV toggle blank it will default to the ship toggle. Only set something there if you want a seperate toggle. :)

Great to see you got it working. I was away or I would`ve replied earlier.

It is essential to keep uptodate with drivers for things like your graphics card, despite any problems you may have had before. They will make a great difference to your graphics as is evident, plus increase your overall performance of your pc. And also, saves you having to buy a whole new expensive graphics card! :)

Exactly. In the past it was different: if it aint broke dont fix it. Driver updates could do all kinds of terrible things. Nowadays its the opposite: allow your pc to auto-update the drivers and you'll be fine. :)
