Text illegible when using the VIVE

Hi there
I am sure this has been asked but could not find a thread. I played ED on the HTC VIVE. It was AWESOME !!! but my only complaint was I could not read any of the text it was soo fuzzy either on the panels left and right of the cockpit or the information panels. ? Any suggestions for improvement. I tried resetting moving my head back, moving it forward nothing helped

Are the two main big ones.
And you could check this one.

The main gist is that elite has oddly poor rendering with the vive. And actually downsampling to 0.65 in game options. And following this or another guide.

To increase pixel density. The odd thing is this looks better and performs better.

It depends a bit on your hardware and personal sensitivities to dial it in as best can be.

Thank you very much for the help. It was my friends VIVE and will let him know. Thnk I will wait till next gen before buyingit myself. Shame when they say game is VR playable and it is not

Frontier have said they are looking into this, and either a fix or some improvements are supposed to be inbound, although they haven't given timeframes as to exactly when. As this is a software, and not a hardware, issue in the sense that it clearly is just ED that has small text, which doesn't translate too well in the Vive (but is better on the Oculus Rift, for your information).

I have both the Rift and the Vive, and whilst I do use the Oculus for sit-down titles (ED included) the Vive output from ED is still legible for me, although I appreciate other opinions vary.

I don't think either main PC supplier is going to move up a generation for a few years yet, and considering ED is the only title with this particular problem as far as I know, you would be missing out on some really awesome experiences with Vive by waiting! But, of course, it's your choice. ;)

Yeah it depends on each individual.

Oh and just because you think your eyesight is fine, well anyone who has ever needed glasses has thought that at some point.
Yes legibillity is bad so any loss of detail will only make it worse sonif you have an uncorrected albeit tiny aberration in your eyesight then that compounds and existing problem.
