All audio in the video was recorded real-time while playing the game. Nothing has been added in post-processing.
For economic reasons (these are all free software solutions), I'm using an off-site TTS service, and audio is downloaded as the chat/dialogue occurs. Background noise, roger beeps, and filtering is added locally before audio playback. There's virtually no impact on either bandwidth or processor usage. Playback delay is negligible.

demux4555 needs a few beta-testers. See the subreddit post
The linked video demonstrates what the program does. If you are interested in spending a little time testing it out and giving me some feedback on things that might not be working like expected, I would be very grateful.
Send me a PM, and I'll send you information on how to install and use the program.
I'm hoping to release this program to the public in a few days time. I just need to make sure it works fine on other systems besides my own.
Windows only.

It's a great improvement to hear NPCs talk. It makes the game much more immersive. A long time ago, I suggested Frontier to use TTS, because it's an inexpensive way to add NPC voices without hiring voice actors.
