Textures very low res in VR?

Picked this game up in the most recent Steam sale. I've got a pretty solid rig, GTX 1660TI and so on. I have my settings on VR Ultra, but for some reason all the textures are blurry and incredibly low-res or jank looking unless I stick my head real close to stuff and it increases. I thought this was due to the game being pretty old now, but as I've been learning the game through YouTube videos and stuff I've noticed that the game has AMAZING graphics on everyone else's system except for my own. Is this a limitation the game has in VR, or is there a way I can change it? Thx

That's definitely not right, what headset are you using BTW? Not that I think it's headset related unless you're using Vive or similar.

If you deliberately set all the graphics to 'low' in game, what does it look like comparatively? Also, what are your Supersampling and HMD settings under graphics?

What Headset do you use? I use a Oculus Rift and my Grafics look nowhere the same than Screenshots or Videos on the Internet too, but that is the Limitation of the Resolustion of the Rift. It makes the look of the Textures blurry (and other things). It isnt that obvious depending on the Game you play, but in Elite Dangerous the Rift and i assume the first HTC Vive Model to doesnt look that good.

For best results on my System (GTX 2060, Core i7,16 gb Ram) i overrided the Antialiasing settings in the Grafics Driver to 8x Sampling and tuned up Resolution with SteamVR Settings.

But i think i need a Oculus Quest or the new but more expensive Vive Modell...

I have a Rift S. I know the Rift is fairly limited in terms of resolution, but I don't think that would make textures (such as the Milky Way texture you see in space when in a system) have a jagged line down the middle, or the lack of detail in the asteriod belts. It looks pretty good still but definitely as if it's keeping me at the lowest graphics settings for some reason.

Btw, supersampling is 1.25x and HMD is 1.0x. Im playing around with various settings tho and seem to be getting some improvements.

Thanks for the help tho gents! Was just curious if this was something other ppl discovered

Crank up your anisotropic filtering in the NVidia control panel. I have the Rift S and the good textures look good (realizing that not all textures in ED are created equal).

Oh, and swap your HMD and supersampling settings. Keep SS to 1 and HMD to >1.
