Thank you 2.1
You have liberated me from the painful burden of repetitive slavery of each Thursday of every week finding the time and effort required to satisfy your fiendish targets in meaningless power play so I can get a return on my previous weeks of slavering effort.
Finally I have Un-pledged. The freedom! The weight and burden is gone! I feel so much lighter being released from these stupid stupid shackles. No longer will I need to worry about missing a few days with work or family lest I miss your stupid stupid weekly power play deadline to be punished by losing a big chunk of effort. Thank you 2.1.
I say get freedom brothers and sisters.. Un-pledge !

lol.. It freed me as well, but only from the burden of trying to maintain level 5 in a week's time.. However, ED has still enslaved me to the grind... but instead of merits, it's mats. I grind everywhere and everything to get more mats for a stupid upgrade... most of the time for the level 5 ones, and the are rarely ever worth it- as a matter of fact, I have contemplated walking away from ED entirely after the disillusionment from weeks worth of grinding for mats and reputation- only to have a marginal increase on a module.

Yeah the mat grind can enslave as well, I have pretty much given that away and am just getting on with doing some more trading, missions or whatever I feel like now. If I come across some materials and am close enough to an engineer to warrant a trip with what I have I will do so, but otherwise I an simply deep-sixing any components I pick up that are cluttering my hold space. (For those non-nautical peeps to 'deep-six' means to toss overboard, in six fathoms of water). I am currently working on my empire ranks now as I want to try out a clipper and do some pirating...

Only reason that I have not unpledged is because occasionally the extra bonus for bounty hunting is nice and I only need to maintain rank 2 for it. On the other hand, it is not like I really need the credits...

Yeah, it really seems as if the Devs stopped caring about PowerPlay.

Soon enough, the Bounty Bonus from Rank 2 will stop being worth the constant harassment and then I might finally stop being lazy and jump ship.

So, I'm very very new to Elite and ED, ED being my first Elite game I played. Picked it up on the XBox One over the bank holiday weekend sale (£12.99 - for what now looks to be Season 1 as I can't do PL's or Engineer's) so only 10 days or whatever in ... I joined PP as it seemed another decent story part in helping out the Power to gain control of systems so they stay Federation and I can happily trade and mission in them.

Am I wrong in my above assumptions? I do very basic PP given my low level, I just pick up 10 x data sheets or whatever when I'm doing missions and run them back to my the control system which I've been using as my "home system" for Fed ranking (so aside from PP completely) to Fortify or Expand systems...

You can do trades and missions regardless of PP. Being in a Hudson control system means very little other than increased security and the bounty bonus.

To me PP is more about the community involved and shared goals to work towards. If you would like to get involved with organized Hudson community please check our sub Reddit.

@Gavin Burke: If you want more out of PP than just a weekly task to sustain whatever rank you want to keep you should consider joining/working with the organised players. Each power has a group of more or less dedicated players trying to organise and focus efforts to help out their power as best as possible. For Hudsonites the Hudson subreddit is a good way to get more into the organised part of PP. We also have a discord and an enjin site. We post a plan every week of what we think would be best to do, we'd be happy to have you around too!

What you are doing right now might not actually helpful to Hudson, if I understand you right you are picking up restricted intel from random systems and ferry it to your home system? Optimally we only want to receive intel from systems we actually we want to expand to the other week, this week we are preparing the valuable system Freng for example. Unfortunately every week we have to actively fight bad preparations pushed by grinders or harmful elements within our power to avoid getting bad/unprofitable systems to expansion, which can be very time & money consuming. Also the game doesn't tell players that only systems with a projected profit of more than 62CC will be actually profitable, the display omits parts of the costs unfortunately. If what I just wrote is just a bunch of mambo jambo for you I recommend to watch this rather short video that sums up all PP mechanics from our power's perpective. We also have a couple of guides on our reddit and/or other experienced players to help you out if you have questions.

Correct, I have read the Reddit and it seems I was bringing in new "unwanted" systems (one place had a 0/50 for control or expand or something so I done 5 runs to make it 50/50), the safe haven I was using for my mission runs (my internet been down for a week so ain't played the game since last Thursday! it's back on today) is now in "lockdown" so I'll be shipping fortication cargo to the system, as per the request in the Reddit sub ;)

I was doing the PP for increased security (if Hudson controls the system then federation get safe passage right?) but I will do further reading on the Reddit sub to help correctly.

@both - I play on the XBox One so may hinder my "community" effort given I can't join whatever chat or voice channel using PC software.

Well if you are prepping systems all by yourself no harm will be done really, piling up on the bad grinder preps is another story. Of course it doesn't exactly help Hudson too ;) We actually have a number of XBox pilots too, some like to use mobile apps for discord and such to stay in touch. Although it's more convenient for PC players usually admittedly.
