Thank you David

Just had to say it.

I have been dropping in on this flaming forum once a year for ages and ages it seems. And never any news. And now you have made my year!

Just pledged what I can on the Kickstarter site and had to say thank you to David and Frontier for bringing out this project. I have been waiting for this announcement for ten years or more! I was 27 waaay back in 1993 when I played Elite Frontier and now you have made an older and still as daft 46 year old very, very happy.

Well if it meets the Kickstarter goal I will be, although with 10% having already been funded just by midday of the first day I dont see any likely problems - I hope!

I played Frontier to death constantly for months and months. In fact there have been very few games I have played to death like I did with Frontier and First Encounters. EF2000 and Falcon 4 are about the only ones I remember playing with the same enthusiasm, and I have played a heck of a lot of games over the years. I particularly loved the freedom and the vastness of the Elite games. You really felt like a tiny part of a massive space opera with so much that was unexplored around you. Not to mention the impressiveness of entering a system and seeing all the realistic stars and planets following their proper paths, just like they would in real life. It was very impressive.

So I am very excited, very hopeful, a little worried and full of anticipation. Next year is going to be a very long year!

Cheers again. Hope you get to the funding goal. And as I said on the Kickstarter site - my wife is going to hit the roof when she finds out but hey - how could I not pledge something for THE next Elite game!!

Superb news :D

I have been putting the Kickstarter news on every forum I regularly visit. Really hope he gets to his goal.

A "Thank you David" thread, so from me - thank you David !

I'm 34 and will turn 36 in March 2014 so it's good timing for my birthday. I got Frontier for my Amiga 500 when I turned 16 in 1994 so it's a strange co-incidence for me. That was also my GCSE exam year so although I was very busy completing projects and revising for my exams, I spent quite a lot of my free time playing the game in between. It was my reward for all my hard work. I got good results in August that year so it obviously worked really well .

I was dreaming about this project last night so that's how much I'm looking forward to it

Well as 20 year old I was excited by Elite when it came out and it looks like I'll be just as excited when I hit 50 and this version gets released!

Thank you David Braben & Frontier!

I hope you will get enough to be able to do a native linux version of Elite: Dangerous as well :)

I played Elite on the Amiga back in 1988 and still today play FFE, I drove 350km to buy a copy of Frontier: Elite II when it was released in 1993.

Looking forward to 2014 :D

Thanks from me too

This was (for me aswell) a great 40th year present. Have pledged on kickstarter now, and keep going there to check how's it going... hopefully i don't need to do this for 59 days :).

I was 12 when I first heard about 'Frontier' back in 1992 and the year that followed was consumed with utter stomach churning excitement, ritually reading and re-reading the extended previews in three issues of 'The One: Amiga' on a daily basis trying to wring out the smallest bit of new information from the images and words.

Today I am that 12-year old.

How long has it been for people like us Geraldine ?

Been playing Elite since 1984 and as you can see from my signature, those are all the versions I own.

I am STILL playing Elite and its incarnations to this day. I am never far from my Cobra Mark III. The passion never died.

There is no cure for people like us

Thank you David Braben, thank you Frontier. You know how many ELITE fans you have made happy with fresh hope.

Lets just hope he get the Kickstarter site updated with some screenshots and video, and gets some high end pledges on there. Because the £5k pledges went really quickly.

I am sure he could put some more dinners on there - or even some private tours of the office etc to see the work in progress. Loads of people would pay big bucks for that kind of thing. He needs to get the site organised, a lot of people are saying the same thing.

True. I know Notch has put in a Pledge I bet he put in WAY over 5000 and he would be one of those attending the dinner.

One the dinner would be easy for Frontier to do and two it would be VERY special for the fans.

Also I posted an thread regarding David talking about screenshots but here is the link here anyway. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...-screenshots-and-video-are-coming-braben-says

Just over 1/4 of a million pounds now. WOW. 5283 as I post this. I was there when that number was 17 wow !!!

We are speculating what would happen in Frontier get say 200% of what they asked for. Hopefully some SPECIAL bonuses for the Kickstarter fans !

How long has the pledge been open for?

I'll echo the thanks David, and also say that you have my renewed respect for taking the risk. I understand how big a project this is and what sort of expectations you're having to meet - not only those of the fans but of the rather exacting ones of your own.

Kudos for biting the bullet.

I like to say a big thank you to Chris Roberts as without Star Citizen I don't think Frontier would have bothered.:D

By the way any one know which game come out first.
