Thank you Frontier & CMDR Kosmos (Wireworld)

A big big thank you to Frontier and support guy CMDR Kosmos! What a great little company you guys are I've loved Elite since the early 90s and you guys offer something many other gaming companies do not.

I recently emailed requesting to have planet or station renamed in honour of Wireworld. For those that don't know Wireworld was a lan gaming centre started in 1999 near Bath in the UK in a small town called Radstock. It was run by Mac and Lyn until 2015 when Mac sadly had to sell due to having cancer. Mac started doing lan gaming Doom at small village fetes etc and it became a 32 player lan centre called Wireworld over the years. Luckily Mac survived despite a terminal diagnosis but Wireworld sadly closed down as the new owners just couldn't put in the time and dedication and keep Wireworld what it once was. No investor or new owner could be found so a centre that turned over 100K a year and served the community is gone.

Wireworld ran for 16 years and was the UK's longest centre as far as we know. It helped hundreds of teens and young people over the years form friendships, it gave adults a place to game and was a massive community of not just gamers but local people and became a family. It was a place parents could trust they could leave their kids. It ran gaming nights for a college with autism and kept many kids off the street and taught them how to make friends and not be        bags hanging out in car parks or parks. Wireworld had visitors from Scandinavia and I met some of my very close friends there.

It really is a sad story that Wireworld is gone but a fitting tribute that it lives on in Elite so thanks again Frontier and CMDR Kosmos. There's going to be a massive Wireworld Gamer meet in game when it drops into game when 2.1 is released.
