Thank You Frontier Dev

I have been very vocal against Frontier's design decisions over the past few months. I felt that the game was balanced ONLY for mmo addicts with nothing else to do but play the same game 24x7.

But I think the latest changes to pricing is a massive step in the right direction. The new pricing for Vulture and Federal Dropship are perfect, given their roles and relative power. The comparison between Vulture and Asp now successfully mirrors that of Viper and Cobra which is how it should be.

I am happy to have a few more ships to fly without having to spend 1000 hours grinding. This way a lot of of us can have a job, a social life, play other games and yet have a little more variety in their Elite Dangerous experience.

You have convinced me to return to the game after two months of absence. Cheers.

It also shows that Frontier has been really listening. I am glad, and look forward to more positive changes like this, that would make the game more enjoyable for everyone, and not just the grind-masters.

Tell the story to the others that lost their trust. FD is doing fine and I never felt they were going in the wrong direction. Stay tuned for the next surprises ;)

I agree with you that before the last patches the grinding was hard...I do also have a family with four kids and a time consuming job, but I think they made it far too easy now.
Lowering the repair cost and slightly rising the bounty income was enough to achieve a huge difference. I had a dropship before the patch but I couldn't make any profit due to the repair cost.
Now... it's just too easy.
At this moment there is no risk anymore in doing (pve) combat. Repair cost and even losing a vulture doesn't hurt a thing.
I'm no hard core trader and I do play all different styles (even mining), but let's take a look from the traders perspective:
Even more dangerous & fast ships to jump their flying fortresses with thin armor and drunk turret operators. They are being punished despite their hard work, even need to be social now to beg for wing-men.
Smugglers : An awesome mechanic in beta (when you needed to turn modules off to get past authority). It should be VERY VERY HIGH rewarding, actually most profitable of all when done right but lose everything when caught. A smuggle career at the start would then be a good profession for those with little time to get to the bigger ships.

I do like the moment of long combat and making some money with it as it is now, but that might be just due to the relieve of the grinding that was sometimes / mostly (pick the one you like) needed before.
Somewhere I know that on the long run this "easy mode" will lose depth fast. I like the no re-spawn approach this game has, it makes you take care of your ship (is not equal to c.a.r.e.b.e.a.r.) and for me it has created amazing pvp moments...(flee or not to flee).

I do think the game is developing in a fantastic way. Maybe FD needs more "nudging" before "pulling" when balancing. A price-drop of the vulture for example is like well...pulling the gearstick of your car through the passengers door.

Fantastic work with RES sites. I shot down last night 3 pythons, 2 clippers and various smaller ships. RES sites are now really nicely varied though you have to find the good RES site. First res that I visited was quite dry, only a few small ships now and then. But the second one I found was the one that I described. Contacts so much I have never seen before, like a warzone. And I like the idea that not all RES sites are gold mines. But when you find one you are gona enjoy it for sure.

Although traders now have defensive options they didn't have before... If you have 3 or 4 shield boosters attached i am willing to bet there are very few ships that can fully knock them out in the time it takes for a T6/7/9 to jump! This is just my impression based on my time using them in beta, but it would be great to hear from any traders that have any experience of this?

ASULUTELY 100% my opinion.

I loved this game since Gamma :) But the new changes take it to another level! Bounty hunting with a wing mate is just awesome, now bounty hunting isn't just a break from trading, it's a viable career path too.

Yes, thank you very much, had a great time playing tonight, and one of the few times I played in open because if I died it wouldn't set me back 3 weeks.

I love the fact that bounty hunting is now a viable high end profession.
I spent a couple of hours at a nav point last night and made just shy of 1M. That's proper cash, right there!
