I'm another old(ish) timer who played the original Elite on BBC, Commodore 64 and Spectrum then later played Frontier Elite II on Amiga. I found out about Elite Dangerous too late to be a Kickstarter backer but in time to catch the end of Beta. Being time-limited it's been a while but I have now put enough time into the game to say that ED is the game that I've always wanted to play that captures the spirit of the original but provides all of the interface, graphics and scale that a modern PC can provide. So I'd like to thank FD and wish them well in expanding and building on the solid foundations they have built.
I recently managed to buy and equip my own Cobra Mark III and as soon as I got it there was only one thought on my mind, a pilgrimage to Lave and the Old Systems. I waited until I got my Cobra as I wanted to dock at Lave in that particular ship for nostalgia reasons, in memory of my time spent playing Elite with my friend Steve (many, many hours) and the time we spent in the years after talking about it (many, many more).
I took the screenshot below "Approach to Lave" at 5280x1050 as I think it perfectly captures the moment.

Thanks FD.
