This might spark a little flack from some, but I for one am thankful for such an amazing, growing game. I can't wait until current computer tech can catch up with all that Frontier has already offered us!!!
Frontier has developed an amazing simulation game for us; a game that tries very hard to encourage our imagination. A game where we have TONS of control over designing and creating our own scenarios, and the freedom to create many amazing things that have even blown Frontier's own minds away!
One of this game's major purposes is to push our own imaginations to the limits!
Many of todays games fill the entire screen with a few thousand polygons with highly detailed textures and effects to achieve "realism" via a decent GPU. They can be tested rigorously to give the smoothest high-def graphics experience on a wide variety of computers- If they have a graphics issue they can adjust it.
Those are completely different from games like this. Those games exist in a pre-defined, graphically optimized world. In Planet Coaster you can have one single ride that's made up of four thousand pieces.
Not Polygons, PIECES!!! Many of the really big fun pieces are well over 40 or more polygons each!
On top of that the rest of the park has to be rendered, as well as all the guests. (All hail L.O.D.!)
That's just the graphics. That has nothing to do with all the guest AI... I don't know a whole lot about that honestly, but I'm quite sure there's a huge difference between figuring out the mood and intent for several thousand guests / staff and pre-programming the actions of that handful of zombies charging at you.
It's nothing compared to a game that's so CPU/GPU intensive as Planet Coaster.
Planet Coaster already gave us tons of freedom and power from the very beginning. Every update has helped that process, and given us so many more rides, toys, features, decorations, fixes, and tools to Help us create the way we want to.
They've even gone so far as to break, fix, and append "design rules" for us... Even "rules" that were built in to the game at one point or another to smooth performance- Rules that almost ALL of us begged, pleaded, and demanded they change in the name of creative freedom.
I've seen so many, MANY astounding ideas and creations spring forth from this games community.
I've watched Frontier make many changes and bend over backwards to answer our hopes, dreams, and desires with-in their control.
The only down side is that my computer can't handle it all.
Heck, virtually NO-ONES computer can quite handle all that freedom and creativity!
I've watched ride videos on YouTube that still skip a few frames or jitter a bit on computer systems that cost thousands of dollars. (Seems a little weird to invest $2500-$3000 into a 'puter for a $40 game.... but whatever) [mouth shut]
This isn't Frontiers fault one bit! They just kept giving us the freedom and flexibility we keep asking for everyday.
I remember the same issue with RCT3 quite a while ago. It took a couple years for everyone's computers to catch up with RCT3 and become affordable enough for all the freedoms that Frontier had given us.
I guess what I'm saying is that I love and thank Frontier for all they've done for us far and all they keep doing. (I can't wait for the Summer update!!!) They've given us amazing power to create, design, and build. Hopefully sometime soon our computer tech will catch up with them! [heart][yesnod]
Frontier has fought very hard to give us every freedom we've always wanted. The best part?
There's more to come!!! [heart][heart][heart]
