Thank you Frontier!

Just like to say this up front, I’m not in any shape or form quiting this game. I’ll run it til the wheels fall off. Now that being said…

I wanted to take a minute and say thank you Frontier. I played the first Elite in the 80s all the way up to this version. I’ve spent a metric ton of hours in the world you created and loved every single minute of it. Some of my best gaming moments were in the cockpits of the ships you created and I honestly can’t thank you enough for creating this game.

However, we are older now and wiser. We can read the writing on the wall much better than we used too and we are not afraid to accept the truth. Sometimes things just get old, they become monotonous and with that comes less attention to these things. We all know that a lion share of your time goes into other projects, we can feel your lack of love in the state of the game and we don’t hate you for it. We actually understand that you are a business and need to make decisions based on profitability. It’s just a shame, that’s all. This game could easily take on SC, NMS and even newer games like Starfield (although that’s an RPG not a sim). But the truth is we can all see your heart is not in it anymore. We can feel the lack of passion from your team in the way issues persist and the lack of additional content. Not to mention dropping things that you said you were working on.

Unfortunately no one wants to be in a one way relationship, it has to be a two way street but you just don’t look at the player base like you once did.

As I said I’m not leaving this game, I’ll be here to the end. But situations like this have a way of ending abruptly. So I wanted to take a few minutes and give a heart felt thank you, for everything. From the immersion and that first time I looked out the canopy in VR. To those heart stopping dogfights that I almost lost. To the wonderment that I felt landing on so many planets with those breathtaking views.

07 everyone, I know I see less and less of you out in the black but thank you to the players too for sticking with this game through it’s rough times as well and not giving up.

We honestly hope that Braben and all the folks from FDev have a change of heart and put the effort back into this project, but as we said we are wiser now and understand that the bottom line runs the video game industry and not artistic passion.

Thanks again Frontier for all the times … both good and bad. This has been an amazing experience!

But you've read it.

I agree with the gist of OP's post. Frontier clearly decided to focus on developing the company rather than Elite. Fair enough decision, but sad for Elite. This game would have needed more manpower over the last couple of years to keep it steaming ahead.

Most people have accepted by now that a lot of the things Frontier eluded to in the past have no chance of ever making it into the game.

I don't really understand what this means. SC players won't switch to Elite, NMS' appeal is its unrealism and Starfield is a completely different genre altogether. If "taking on" means converting their players to Elite, I don't see that happening. Neither would I want to see Elite trying too hard to emulate any of them.

Anyway, uh, good post.

Oi! I'm Braben's number one fan. :p

I mean, some of us play all of these and then some because we like space and are happy to take whatever we can get. :)

To OP - I am as you are.
and
It was fine until they raised the Min Spec so that my PC no longer does it well.
I think they lost the handle on the programing. Maybe they now have scripters and not coders.
I will try SC (just meet the Min Spec), but I wont be giving up on Elite.

also - always happy to take whatever I can get - - if it gets me into the asteroid belt

Normally, goodbye posts are ranked using the bazmeson scale, with posts being awarded bazmesons based on parameters like:
-weakness of arguments
-sense of entitlement
-inconsistency
-poor grammar
-negativity
-ridiculousness

In this case, I can safely say that we are sub zero on the bazmeson scale.

Very nice and well thought post.

wholeheartedly agree OP, feel very much the same. Will ride this sucker all the way till it ends. Also to any devs reading (Will part with cash just like the old days if you spend more time fixing it and giving it love) Two way street an all that.
