Lol, I can assure you the first thing explorers do after downloading their data is arm up and go and kill something.

Original BBC/C64 owner of elite, been playing ED since Jan casually doing different stuff, not ventured more than about 1k out yet, but enjoying pottering round the Galaxies for a few hours, especially to unwind after work.
Managed to get my name on a few systems over in Weregoe /Col sector (sp?) which i'm happy with at the moment whilst i break my new dedicated explorer Asp in and see how it goes and if the build works. And have all my multi-roles parked up if i fancy popping back for a bit of random NPC slaughter or need some more cash from trading.
Enjoying myself taking it at my own pace doing what i want.

This is a haven for us explorers...didnt come without a lot of request from our end of getting out of the General Discussion one that is sooo full of it...
I now rarely go there...

I too noticed that this area seems unusually civilized. I just thought it was because all explorers lose basic communication skills while out in the black and have to start from scratch again. You know, with little things like respect, consideration, etc.
We do what we must, because we can. For the good of all of us.
Song lyrics aside, yes, this portion of the community is very inclusive. We are all out to discover and share the wonders of the galaxy with one another. There is no(or very, very little) competition here. There is no 100% correct way to explore. You can do it in everything from a Sidey to a Conda and although you might get recommendations against either and everything inbetween, nobody will fault you for wanting to stick to your guns.
