Thanks a lot

I was on my first run in the current CG, in my Type 9, with a full load of Advanced Catalyzers. I had 2 jumps to make, and after the first one I got interdicted. Since the Type 9 handles like a garbage scow, I always submit to interdictions, give them their 2 or 3 tons, and send them on their merry way, which is what happened in this case. I then made my last jump to the Duamta system and got interdicted again as I was trying to find Orunmilla on the System chart. I cut the throttle and began getting ready to drop some more cargo when I get the message to drop EVERYTHING in my hold! Wait, what?? I've never heard that one before, and before I could gather my wits and comply they start shooting at me and blow me up! Thanks a lot!

Now, is this something that was changed for the CG to $%#@ us off, or have I just not run into it before?

If you aren't up against a player never submit, NPC's interdicting you can, quite honestly, be evaded (easily) by even the worst players.

You might have managed your delivery then & saved yourself some salt.

For CGs ALWAYS:

Something changed with NPC pirates awhile back, where they used to be patient and give you time to drop cargo. Now* they more often than not just open fire immediately. I don't know if it's a bug or "feature", but it ruined immersive piracy in the game for me. Someone suggested it was done to combat bot traders, but a company should never punish actual players in response to bots IMO.

* (at least the last time I played many months ago)

BTW if it was an npc ive never had that before and in a type 9 avoiding interdiction against npcs is sometimes hard.
Best bet is submit and boost, jump, npcs don't have the tricks a player ganker has.

From time to time, when the creator in his cruelty so sees fit to organize, you come across creatures in nature, from which you know that the assumed concept of a higher purpose is actually evil to the core, or that the brute hand of evolution has just solved things in the worst way for the individual. :)

If i'm in something a bit more maneuverable, I can evade no problem, but the Type 9 flies like a brick, so...

so...build a more survivable t9...full engineered military or reactive deep plated armour, sacrifice some cargo racks for some HRPs.
My guess is you were in a paper thin build with maxed out cargo capacity and almost 0 defences.
The T9 I fly can survive a human ganker, just...but if I'm trading for a CG then I fall back to my more survivable Python trader. I only play in Open.

Trade CGs always annoy me because I always play open, never ever solo or PG and because of this I will always be at a disadvantage to those that go into solo with their paper thin T9 builds. Because of this I very rarely do trade CGs.

Umm, yeah, because I had always been able to appease the pirates with a lousy 3 or 4 tons of cargo. The fact that they wanted EVERYTHING was actually the point of the post originally...

Thanks for the suggestion though. Might try it. Right now I'm working on getting some help from Prof. Palin. (a distant descendant of Sarah, perhaps?)

Don't give them anything, submit, boost away FA-OFF. Or just fight back if it's an npc, jump out once the cooldown has finished. Should be a complete non-issue.

NPC interdictions are adjusted based on what you’re flying so if you’re in a fast ship then they are fast, in a slow ship like a T9 just don’t ever give up. Unless I am distracted I’ve never ever been interdicted in my T9 and I fly it a lot. These “Dukes” on here will tell you to get a clipper but you really don’t need one to haul big, the T9 is perfectly fine.

Being combat Elite in a Cutter I'll get Elite NPCs in an Anaconda, Fer de Lance or Type-10. With the current Duamta CG interdictions have increased and I got an Adder, Eagle and a Type-10 interdicting me all at once. Then they started fighting each other! Something is different.

This is what I used to do. However, since I made "Combat" rank of "Dangerous", most of the NPCs interdicting me are much stronger now and my poor T9 can't cope...

Here is my current build (yes it needs more engineering, but so do all of my ships...)

My strategy used to be:
  1. Submit to the interdiction (which reduces the FSD cooldown timer from 15 seconds down to 5, IIRC).
  2. Determine the strength of the enemy, while FA-OFF turning to target them.
  3. Stay in the fight until either system security shows up (in which case I may still attack but priority is put on staying alive to collect the bounty when sys sec destroys the NPC) or my hull gets below 40% (which is when I attempt to implement an exit strategy of either high or low wake, in order of preference).
No my strategy is:
  1. Win the interdiction or most likely die and lose my cargo.

I'd recommend at least some light engineering on the hull..

Below is the build I've had for years, I don't really trade much anymore, but it served me well. FA-OFF, spin round and barrage the npc with missiles, jump out on the cooldown. NPC interdiction difficulty has changed a lot over the years. Currently, it is fairly easy to win the interdiction in a T9 as long as you also use yaw to evade.

With a relatively decent hull, even high-ranked NPC's are not a major threat. I personally never bothered with shields, they are just not good on the T9.
TYPE-9 HEAVY

Not optimized, but the hull is engineered, giving me enough time to get out of any situation.

Edit: I just noticed the engineered hull is currently missing from that T9, it is currently on my mining T9 - T9 Miner
