Thanks a lot

I'd recommend at least some light engineering on the hull..

Below is the build I've had for years, I don't really trade much anymore, but it served me well. FA-OFF, spin round and barrage the npc with missiles, jump out on the cooldown. NPC interdiction difficulty has changed a lot over the years. Currently, it is fairly easy to win the interdiction in a T9 as long as you also use yaw to evade.

With a relatively decent hull, even high-ranked NPC's are not a major threat. I personally never bothered with shields, they are just not good on the T9.
TYPE-9 HEAVY

Not optimized, but the hull is engineered, giving me enough time to get out of any situation.

Edit: I just noticed the engineered hull is currently missing from that T9, it is currently on my mining T9 - T9 Miner
The T9 Master has spoken! 🛐

You just need one of these.

Against NPCs I'd even go as far as to say engineering is optional.
That's what I'm talking about. Almost identical to my build, but I went reactive hull and thermal res + reflective plating on the class 1 HRP, which gives a huge boost to hull armour compared to military hull.

Yeah, the reactive + small thermal HRP is my go to as well with the majority of my builds. I just suggest the military armour as a cheaper option here.

I bought a T9 recently to do some trading in Colonia while most of my other ships were back in the Bubble. That's when I found out what a huge privilege it is to have only ever traded in a Cutter. I put tons of armour and shields on the T9 so I did still escape after being interdicted twice (maybe by the same enemy?) just by boosting away and jumping, but I don't think I've ever lost an interdiction in my Cutter without accidentally hitting the zero-throttle key.

Umm, yeah, because I had always been able to appease the pirates with a lousy 3 or 4 tons of cargo. The fact that they wanted EVERYTHING was actually the point of the post originally...

Thanks for the suggestion though. Might try it. Right now I'm working on getting some help from Prof. Palin. (a distant descendant of Sarah, perhaps?)
And let me guess - they want more than their ships can actually carry, LOL. Unless the pirates brought along their own T9 and a whole lot of collector limpets to scoop up your cargo!

You know, when I've role-played as the humble trader and would regularly give in to an NPC Pirate's demands and drop what they asked, they'd shoot me up regardless. Whether this mechanic remains broken years later, well, I don't really care to find out again during such role play. I did notice, while in a Res site, that ships were now constantly dropping Escape Pods, which my limpets collected as I'd not filtered them out. Pirates then went nuts demanding I drop them - which I did, I don't want them - but I was attacked anyway.

I don't recall experiencing a "Drop ALL your cargo" comm from a Pirate NPC, but they've never been satisfied when I drop what they ask anyway.

I find it hilarious that I shoot down pirates and then deliver them all back to the station! And also, after collecting one of the said pirates, another pirate is demanding I dump the pod or else he's going to "melt my [Corvette's] bulkheads" with his Sidewinder. Hilarious!

I can avoid most Elite NPC's in my Type-9. Admittedly it's heavily engineered, so that helps quite a bit. Even so I've never been asked to drop all my 700+ tonnes of cargo. I usually only get asked to drop as much as the NPC's ship hold can carry.
