Thanks for wasting my time

Went all the way to Guardian site at Synuefe GT-H B43-1 C4 Only to discover you can't land a Python anywhere near it. Well done FDev pat yourselfs on the back and have drink what a great idea. Lets put something in the game but make it inaccessible ! Yea a really good idea NOT!!!!!!

Cant even land a Krait at these sites so Fdev you can take your Guardian tec and shove it in to a place that will cause you the maximum pain and discomfort !!!!!!

This is very frustrating, I agree. Try flying to Hutton Orbital in a ship that requires a large pad. Try flying to a Guardian Data Core in an exploration ship with no weapons and therefore no way to interact to get a key.

In my experience this has helped me understand that Elite CAN be very much a thinking man's game. Generally I find I need to do some planning and think ahead.

Much like your experience here... I found the same problem in my Exploraconda. I DID find a landing spot quite a far way away and had to drive for about 30 minutes.

I considered that an "educational trip" and I no longer make that particular mistake.

However, I am sure my education about "planning and thinking ahead" will continue in Capitulo Quatro. I am sure I will barge headlong into new content and find, upon arrival, that I did not plan for all contingencies.

DOH! For the MUG!

I know right! I flew my T-9 all the way to this outpost once and I couldn't even land there! What's the point of outposts where I can't land my T-9! Stupid game. Oh, wait, there is actually loads of other ships I can land at an outpost, stupid me.

I am just going to throw this in the ring, but I landed there (and many other sites) when I did the Ram Tah Mission....In an Anaconda!!!

yep, did the whole process in that thing! just need to keep an eye out that's all..( or use a smaller ship) :D

You know not all planets have smooth marble terrain right? you can expect there to be some rough patches, hardly worth having a go at the dev team about... Next it will be "curse you [inset deity] for making the mountains so tall for me to climb!!!"

Glad to know that I can't land a Krait there...Oh, wait...

Don't the Python and Krait have essentially the same undercarriage?

... and I can see a lot of flat-enough terrain in that picture.

I thought it was common knowledge that outposts always lack large landing pads?

As for the OP comment - yes, you can land your big a** ship at the guardian sites.. just a bit further away.

Most places near the Guardian bases have plenty of locations where you can land a medium ship. It might require a little searching, sure, but within a few minutes you should have found a suitable spot.

Maybe do a bit of research before starting out . . .

It's not as if the forums aren't full of posts about the Guardian sites saying "take a small ship". If you cannot be bothered to do the preliminary research then you reap what you sow. The fact is though, you can take a large ship. I have even been to the Guardian sites in an Anaconda and while I had to park a fair distance away it is not inaccessible, just a much longer drive back to the ship.

SUGGESTION: Get a DBX, fit it for long-range, add a SRV and 2 point defense. You will be able to park very close to the Guardian sites and the point-defense systems will help shoot down incoming Sentinel missiles when your SRV is near the ship. The DBX jump-range will mean less of a hassle getting to and from the sites as well.

LOL! One pi##ed off cmdr there!!
Some of the Guardian structure sites is definetely not the best place for a Python if you wanna land right beside the sites. The first time I did the mission I was using my ASP, but even that was a challenge to land close to the most rugged sites. My favourite ship for these missions is without a doubt the DBX. Great litte ship with high jumprange, very manouverable, enough cargo capacity and last but not least - you can land just about ANYWHERE! :)

I say we all get together and land Anacondas around the site! then post it hear for the ultimate slap in the face! :D

We all know anyone can land a large ship there, but many? has such a feat been done? :D

To be honest I think that the addition of telescopically extending (no, not that much, silly) landing gear ships could be seen to land in the rough, and if you insisted on landing where it said you couldn't then you may take hull (landing gear) damage that would need repair, perhaps a electronic malfunction would put your shields off line.
Obviously landing in silly places 90deg* slope then ok, but most times... I can do that!

actually, spanish qwerty does have º
first key from the left, top row
420px-KB_Spanish.svg.png

but it's not really a degree sign. it comes together with ª, that's spanish writing for ordinals (1º or 1ª meaning "1st") which happen to have grammatical gender
it's mainly only used for home addresses
how this rarely used thing got a place in a default keyboard layout is also a mistery to me :D
btw: it's alt+167 :)
