Thanks Frontier - Bounty Hunting Just got a Little More Interesting!

Pulled a wanted ship out of SC this morning. Locked 'im up, started the KWS and the next thing I know his range has gone from a bit over 2Km to 4Km+. So I give chase in my Python but he keeps getting further and further away - even with me constantly boosting.

At around 6.5Km he high waked out.

An NPC??? Hhmmm. That was different. Normally, wanted NPC's don't run after being interdicted but if they do (which I've never seen before unless they're getting a mudhole stomped in their rear end) they certainly have never used boost to do it (at least not that I've ever noticed). Maybe they aren't using boost but if not I don't see how they're outrunning my engineered Python that boosts at 350.

Ah well - probably a fluke thought I. So I proceeded to jump another galactic scumbag and pull 'im out of SC. ...and dang - the same thing happened again! NOT a fluke. NPC's are now smart enough to run when it's obvious they have no chance. Well - at least they were smart enough this morning. COOL!

Now normally an interdiction on my part is a pretty laid back process. Pull 'em out. Lock 'em up. KWS 'em, circle awhile and then pounce with a full Alpha strike from very close range. Seemed that that wasn't going to work any more.

Now to catch 'em as soon as I drop out of SC I put 4 pips in ENG, firewall the throttle, hit boost to get as close as I can, lock 'em up, target drives, and start shooting all within 10 seconds or less. ... and - Some of 'em still get away. :D

I love it!!!

Anyone else experience this new NPC behavior? What was your reaction to it?

NOTE: normally I hang in a RES HAZ or do assasination missions - but every now and then when that gets old I cruise a system looking for goblins. It's been a few months since the last time I indulged myself so maybe this behavior isn't new to the community but it's definitely new to me.

I've interdicting like crazy these past couple of weeks and I've never seen anything like this.

My anaconda only boosts to 220, so I shouldn't be too hard to run from.

I've had NPC's interdicting me then running away from the fight. I can't catch em either at 450ms in my aspX.

Something is up with the AI, but I cant put my finger on it. Had a crazy Dolphin yesterday with full heat-sink outfit boosting around like crazy while constantly going stealth. Cool, but odd. Latest patchnotes said nothing...

That made me laugh. Cheers.

Hopefully Fdev are working on some sort of panic mechanic and testing it out on random ships that for most folks they never notice.
I want my targets to go stealth and run when they know they cant win, but thats a smart behaviour. Have others freak out and burn themselves from the inside out whilst they panic that your on them tight.

Folks had that running behaviour removed before, didnt they ?
If you kit your ship out right, just follow the little goon all over till the job is done, right ? But farming.
