Thanks to ALL the generosity of this community, meet Hutton the Hearing Dog!

Pilots of the galaxy - it never ceases to amaze the Hutton admin team when we see the generosity of this community to others, their wellbeing and to charity.

Whilst we support ALL charity activity over at Hutton, our two chosen causes are SpecialEffect and Hearing Dogs. Whether it's via the Elite Community Meet (ECM) events, or climbing a volcano, the team (and you) have been hard at work raising vast amounts of money for both.

It's always lovely when we get feedback from the charities, seeing exactly where the money goes, getting updates on the lives that are transformed for the better.

So - Alvin Deefer (faction leader of the Hutton Orbital Truckers and Hearing Dog companion to CMDR Snoswell) has an announcement. In recognition of the fundraising for Hearing Dogs, not only did their team come to ECM in person and introduce us to their trainees, BUT we were given the honour of naming a pup whose job over his lifetime will be to bring assistance and companionship to one person.

Alvin has transformed the life of CMDR Snoswell since they were paired. If you'd met him at a Lavecon or Elitemeet before they became a team, the confidence to enter and be part of a noisy social environment has been one visible change, but there have been many others.

Alvin is our group's fluffy bundle of leadership. He's met many of you, and others know him by reputation...

So - Elite Community - meet Hutton the Hearing Dog! He's 8 weeks old and for the next year and a half, he'll be in intensive training as a partner, companion and assistance dog for one person who will have their lives absolutely transformed for the better.

He's a Cocker Spaniel and as with Alvin is a working/show cross. We reckon he looks like a right little bruiser.

Thank you, you're all awesome. #forthemug

This is really cool!

It is - there's something really heart warming about actually seeing where all the hard work from the community and their generosity goes! The actions of a bunch of gamers throughout the world, (*We... the players of Elite) have done this - we've helped ensure that a fellow human being's life is transformed.

We'll see the first "official" post from Hearing Dogs about his progress in February. He is soon to say goodbye to his mum and his brothers and sisters and be paired up with a trainer for around a year and a half - training him in the skills he needs, socialising him with other dogs, with the public and giving him all the skills he needs.

As with any youngster, he's assessed at all stages of this training, and once he's ready, he'll be paired up with a recipient - and yes, we'll have photos. May he have a long and happy life and achieve the Elite standards required to gain his qualification and official flight suit.
