It's still unclear as to whether they're conducting repairs, or actually breaking down the material for some other purpose. To me, it almost looks like they're eating away at it.

They're called Scavengers, by the way, and they REALLY don't like it if you put Guardian tech in the fancy machine in the central structure.

Why would that decrease your awe and surprise? You discovered it for first time.

I haven't seen it in action neither.

Yeah, noticed this.

To me, seems like the Thargoids finally managed to revert the Mycoid problem, possibly due to genetically modifying themselves (David Braben said Barnacles were a genetically modified version of "a previous life form")

Most likely FD have put huge emphasis of Thargoids incredible adaptation skills and that will be part of ongoing story line of war with them.
