Thargoid Attack - Evacuate Missions - Destination The Other Side Of the Bubble?!

Hi,
I've done thargoid attack rescue missions many times before and the destination is always the closest rescue ship.
This time round, with the new system under attack, the destination is literally the other side of the bubble 250ly away.
There are 3 rescue ships close by ranging from 60-100lys...so why the other side of the bubble?
Bug or deliberate?

I didn't know you would be routed to the closest rescue ship before.
I have done a bunch of those since the last 6 months and they never pick the closest rescue ship.
Not the farthest either but still, it doesn't make much sense for people that just want to be evacuated.
Maybe the closest rescue ship is over capacity but a message saying that would solve the mystery.

Isn't it something to do with the allegiance of the station giving the passenger missions? Feds want to go to a Fed rescue ship, independents to an independent etc.

correct. You never get sent to the nearest ship, you're always sent to one matching the allegiance.
Interesting! Thanks for the posts.
I must have been lucky early on in the war.
When the Titans 1st attacked I built a goid rescue ship and spent weeks shuttling refugees...did this from 3-4 different Titan locations...every time the destination was the closest rescue ship. My rescue build was built based on this, no scoop etc as I could make it to the destination with about 20% fuel left to spare.
It must have been pure fluke that the system I rescued refugees from just so happened to be aligned with the closest rescue ship.
IMO the refugees shouldn't be that damn fussy! Death or rescue to nearest rescue ship!

On the lore side, I think the intent here was not to show that the refugees were fussy—but the Powers and humans in general are absolutely reprehensible, one and all. Even in the face of humanity's existential war with an aggressive, advanced alien race they are so petty as to not unite even to provide haven to refugees.
