Thargoid Combat Bonds: A bit low?

Getting back into combat for the first time in years and have started with that galactic menace -the Thargoids. Killed some Scouts and ain’t been destroyed yet though I do get popped with a Caustic Missile often. By the time it’s all said and done I guess I might be breaking even between the combat bonds and repairs/reload.

Now I get saving galactic civilization from an alien menace shouldn’t be a “for profit” business but for destroying Station smashing, ship killing, human kidnapping bugs shouldn’t the payout be a bit more then it is?

So true. Maybe the devs want players to drive into a pro/anti Thargoid split, where money is not part of the decision? Whatever, the Scouts pay out 10.000 each. While getting them down is pretty easy, the replenish/repair afterwards quickly can cost you more than you earn. Interceptors give like 2Mcr, but I tried soloing the last sessions and already lost 2 Python rebuys (about 20Mcr). So, money-wise it's not worth it as well, at least if you try soloing them.

So, hunting down them dam** Xenos is more a matter of personal attitude, challenge or winging up, than it is profitable.

Haven't seen any sprouts since Beta, but had a pretty good go of squashing them there AND making credits.
The big ones, not so much - knowing how to squash them and being able to execute that.. not exactly the same thing.

I know we have a few pilots who routinely take out the largest versions of these with nothing more than their underwear and crowbar, but these are not your average bulk pilots.

In it's current state, the whole Thargoid thing is not worth the effort. You need special weapons, tanked up ship that cost a lot to replace. Why would I even bother fighting Thargoids, if I can make 12 mil an hour or more, in a haz rez, in nothing more than a Vulture or Chieftain?

Have you done it before?

How many hours can you spend making 12m+ credits until there's nothing left for you to spend credits on? Then what do you do?

That's why these things are so stupid tough to take out - because once you've done everything else, what else is there?

Personally I rather like fighting them in a wing. It takes coordination and cooperation to pull off and ensure everyone makes a profit at the same time.

Yeh fought a couple and found it tedious. When I get bored res farming I just go exploring.

They aren't kind ignore Lowe indeed, I'd say doubling them would be enough to cover most basic rebuys and reduce losses, because at the moment losing 30 million to win 6? Not worth it

Yes "It's for humanity" but come on outside of the challenge they have little to no actual rewards, even the cargo they sometimes drop is quite worthless.

Fun, challenge...to protect Humanity?
Elite isn't JUST Cr/Hr you know...

Ok but just saying you actually lose money killing Thargoids in many cases...The cost to repair the damage those buggers do can outweigh the profit gained from killing one. (God help you if you get hit by a caustic missile) And I am talking when they payed 2 mill each. Now fighting one with the current payouts is pretty much a guaranteed loss of money.

I mean if you lose sure you pay the losses from your attempted attack. But why are players being punished for winning against them?

I don't really see them as a threat. We expanded into their territory and they sort of said "Get off my lawn."
If they are as big a threat as the lore suggest, we need BVR tactical nukes. I just can't buy into the anti xeno weapons thing.
Respect to those that solo the Thargoid big ships, but just not my thing.

Soloing a Cyclops rewards me 10 times my repair cost.
It is good.
Scouts should pay more though! They deal far more scratch damage than the 10k credits you get.

Indeed when Fdev introduced thargoid "threat" I laughed out loud. Yeah, humanity is facing the deadliest alien race that is why our brightest and smartest most powerful weapons manufacturers will limit you to only 4 ax weapons, you know, cause Thargoids are "dangerous."

The new shard cannons splatter scouts pretty well. Still not worth the trouble credit-wise but at least you can quickly scavenge them for parts you might need later.

I happened to find out that the caustic repair drone saves you from the biggest damage source: overheating to get rid of caustic.

It does not restore a visible amount of hit points but my maxed 34 mil rebuy conda lost 13 % hull over several Scout huntings, only one module package, and I had to pay only a little more than 20.000 credits for repair.

It sure makes a huge difference if you do not have to overheat your ship to get rid of caustic as your internals do cost the most and can remove it quickly.

Fitted a 16 tonne cargo rack for limpets.

Handed in 500.000 worth of bonds then.
