Thargoid Experiment

With the Thargoids now at hand and everyone trying to kill them, I thought of a way to kill one without ever firing a shot. There's some setup for this, so please be patient. :)

I saw a video made by CMDR Plater about a huge barnacle site. You've probably seen it by now. He had just found it hours before I saw it, so the site was relatively untouched. Watching the Thargoid in that video and listenning to Obsidian Ant's description of how the Thargoids sucked stuff up when they were refueling or whatever at the barnacle sites sparked an idea.

If you've seen Obsidian Ant's video one mixing Thargoid and Guardian tech, activating the alien base with an Ancient Relic instead of the unknown link gives you very different and violent results than the normal star map.

Also, if you've done any of the Guardian history mission, you'll know that they developed some sort of biological weaponry.

I also saw videos of CMDRs offering Ancient Relics to the Guardians and they would just ignore it completely. If I recall, they wouldn't even scan it.

So the plan was to place Ancient Relics at a barnacle where they refuel and have them suck it up. BOOM!!!!

So, i grabbed up a bunch of Ancient Relics and went to the site found by CMDR Plater with CMDR Calkins and we spent two nights hanging out there with Ancient Relics placed at the foot of the largest barnacle there when it finally happened. First there was a barnacle that grew out of the ground right next to the main barnacle. Then the scavangers that were all around the site for two days all grouped up around a barnacle that was a ways out. Then the infamous warning of an Unknown Frameshift and the typical Thargoid arrival noise. It catches you way off guard after so much time just goofing off around the site. As their beam started up I could see the Ancient relic was in the perfect place, right under the ship and in the light of the beam. Then the Relic lifted off the ground and slowly went up the beam. So slowly the anticipation was killing me. It made it's way right into the Thargoid's umm, mouth, yea mouth. :) The pedals started closing with the Relic inside and the beam ceasing when suddenly...the darn thing fell out and onto the ground (DANG IT!). Then the Thargoid just headed out like nothing happened.

So now we know that the Guardian tech touching the Thargoids on the inside does absolutely nothing. While it wasn't the epic ending I was hoping for but CMDR Calkins and I had a lot of fun hanging out and collecting meta. That site is epic and like nothing else that has been seen so far. If you get a chance you should visit that barnacle field (please look up CMDR Plate's video for the location. It was great of them to share).

I have a bunch of screenshots, but don't have web storage, so unfortunately I can't put them up here. If anyone would like to host them, I'd be happy to send them a zip, just PM me. :)

Have a great night all and happy hunting. And so many thanks goes to CMDR Calkins for hanging out with me for this experiment. It sounded so much like it should work.
