FD have added some tidbits to the Galaxy map that are great. The Thargoid attack points show where there is an active threat, stations under distress or repair.
I hope FD continue to expand this. If a system is in a state of war it should have a red circle around it or a War Icon above it with some cool text when highlighting it about what factions are fighting and if they are aligned with the player or not (if in PP, but that's a whole other feature that needs updating/expanding). If/When FD delivers Thargoid home territory surely there will be some Power Play like bubble or icons indicating the danger to pilots that might even try to jump there, as well as different colors for the dominant race of Thargoid in each system.
These could be filtered out, of course, just like filtering on the map works today. Primary economy, controlling PP faction, Quarantines for medical emergencies, Permit Locks, War state, Boom. But key is all clearly visible by markers or special coloring and symbol surrounding the star on the map view. It would bring the map and game just a bit more to life and convey information simply.
Probably not easy, but I love maps and the information they can convey. Info can spark travel or even just watching the BGS evolve over time via snapshots, which I'm surprised I have not seen any YouTuber snap the Power Play map from the same point every week for a year and run a change animation.
