Thargoid killed. Not much of a challenge. Disappointing.

I just met some random guys in open and three of us could take down a thargoid in one attempt. I hope it's only beginning and this thargoids are just explorers not capable of real combat . If not, after we will build some skill and confidence it will be the same boring farming like killing thousand of "pirates" in RES.
What do you think? Do you think thargoids should be more dangerous and harder to kill?

P.S. thanks to my wingmates for a good fight, and i hope you guys don't mind i made and published this video.
EDIT. that was my first fight with thargoid and now i realize how many things we did wrong. Now when we know how to fight them you can easily kill it solo and almost take no damage.

EDIT2
To those who think thargoid solo kill is all about exploiting FDL's speed, and all you need to fix is give them 700 m/s speed. That's my kill in Anaconda which is not maxed out for defence, whith it's 64t cargo rack, class 5 limpet controller, corrosive resistant cargo rack, only 1 SCB, and 3 shield boosters enegineered for resistance instead of MJ's, which seems to be totally ineffective against thargoid's weaponry.

Do we count this as the first of the Buff the Thargoids ! threads?

Nice good job, I noticed it would take hits but then its "life" would pop back up. I mean at 40% you could see it pop down to 35/38% but then it would immediately pop back up to 40% and seemed to be doing this at certain % marks.

Did you guy have to use a particular weapon to hurt it?

Sounds like you are describing hull damage, which heals, you need to kill its subsystems, the hearts, in order to kill it. Hull damage alone won't do it it seems.

I think he gave you a run for your money, but it took more than one of you along with your fighters to bring it down, so not a battle to be done solo unless feeling suicidal.

I don't know they look pretty tough to me and I bet plenty others who aren't very experienced or have ships as engineered as yours or is in a large wing if you and some friends want to destroy thargoids then that's all you can do, I don't see the ax missiles being effective against human ships

Yesterday the whiner's thread was that the alien ships were indestructable (I beleive "God mode" was used) and were essentially another cut scene masquerading as content, based on the aliens absorbing everything commanders could throw at them (seemed to me someone was just salty that they couldn't kill something).

Now that we have new weapons, the whiner's thread is that it is too easy for a wing to destroy the alien.

Some people are just happier when they are making sure everyone knows how unhappy they are.

To be fair, you can solo a Thargoid as long as you're in a ship tanky enough to absorb their attacks for 10-15min. I'd say that's a pretty good balance, harder to take out than a human capital ship, and a hell of alot more fun!

yeah, 3 of you..... do it solo and then say how challenging they are. or against multiple ones. ;)

it is very likely more types are coming. I have been hyperdicted by a bigger one.. so they are out there.

Meanwhile I will be trying to kill it in my Icourier. currently last only a few minutes before drones rip me a new one...the actual thargoid aint that bad though

I think they are challenging enough for now. After we get C3 launchers and caustic resistance armor they'll become pretty easy to kill, but hey, fights against multiple ships and different types are coming :)
They only thing, that could be fixed - drones. They are too stupid and slow, and i don't believe that it's intended behavior. Give them more speed and accuracy + launch two or three swarms at once and you will get a challenge you want :)

I ask you: Is it that they aren't challenging enough, or is it that your Engineer superbuffs are unbalanced as hell?

After another kill with my FAS I'm 100% convinced that, at least, drones should be fixed.
If you have a fighter - it'll take all their aggro from you and just facetank them for a really long time - because they just can't hit it ! A swarm of supertechological alien drones can't kill a small fighter.
If you have a very fast ship like FAS, you get a picture like this:
FAS is much faster than drones.
Interceptor is much faster than drones.
You boost away, Interceptor tries to catch you, you can turn, stay, shoot, boost away and repeat. And 90% of that time drones are just trying to catch you.

Yes. Frontier still doesn't understand the amount of damage (and survivability) a determined commander can gain; and this is even after broken modules had been removed that shows the degrees available, as well. The problem is, they can't make them impossible, or people will complain that they can't solo one.

But I am a little saddened that within hours of the new weapons coming out, they're being steam-rolled. Granted initially the rolling is from very effective combat pilots. You'd think it would be incremental improvements. Shoot the new toys, realise it does make a difference, but not enough and there's some progression to find the eventual good combo.

Day 3. Well, sorry kids, the invasion is more a bit of a disagreement and various details are mopping up the insurgent forces.

Frontiers stated Thargoids will be very formidable. On recent stream with devs someone asked if we will gain Pilot's Federation combat rank for killing T's? The reply was like "kill a Thargoid? Are you serious? Haven't you seen the video from Aegis?" And now we see more and more videos with exploding flowers.
My point is that so widely advertised thargoids could be killed by 3 random guys in first attempt, who just bought right toys. I expected, that wing of 4 top skilled pilots, who trained to work together, actively using voice comm to synchronize strikes, will be able to deal some damage at first, and later after several attempts maybe they can find out right tactics and finally kill it, and show to others how you do it.
