Thargoid kills

Anyone here tracking their thargoid kills? I just wondered if there's a bug-hunting wing out there in the high double-figures yet.

I ask because my group has been looking at getting involved and we have some questions.

Specifically:

1) Will a wing of two top-end, hull tanked Federal dropships be able to take down a thargoid on their own or does it need to be a full wing?
2) What is thargoid-killing strategy? I was thinking keep one dropship in front and one behind, possibly rotating but I heard about killing shields then hearts etc... would love more detail there.
3) Do PDCs do anything against those mini-goids they shoot at you? I know they'd never kill them all but maybe reduce the damage a little?
4) Are thargoid kills rewarded like a standard bounty? How much is a kill worth?

Thanks commanders - fly safe.

1) The goids scale based on number of cmdrs trying to murder it - 2 should work provided outfitting is optimal
2) With a wing of 2 your strategy is limited. The key thing being to time repair - rearm trips well in advance. If both ships are on zero ammo, zero shields and 40% hull you'll end up with a rebuy or lost instance
3) I think they're great, no idea why some are suggesting maxing boosters. Of course someone who knows how to use a flak cannon can save the day (shooting when the swarm is heading for them)
4) There's a bug so sometimes there's no bond or rank, but normally it comes up as 2m Pilots Federation bond which a few days ago was worth 1.54m. Considering the duration of the fight and risk, no-one's doing it for the bond...

I'm tracking how often I've seen them without going to a small zoo in a galactic backwater doing shows twice a day.

So far still a big fat zero.

Only half a dozen kills so far and never a solo kill. Did manage to take out a Cyclops with just two unengineered gunships yesterday.

So... a single ship can take one on? I can't even target them.

You need to get a xeno scanner. Drop in to the signal source and cut you engines. The Thargoid will come and scan you. It gets close enough for you to target and scan it and if you are not moving it will not become aggressive. After scanning it you can target it's subsystems.
