Thargoid non pew-pew?

I've been skulking around the Pleiades/Hyades region tonight and it kind of reminds me of that scene in movies where the redneck posse all clamber aboard a fleet of pickup trucks, armed with duck guns, and head off into the forest to whup the alien/predator/terminator/deranged SF veteran... and we all know how that usually turns out.

I was just wondering if anybody's currently working on any ideas aside from pew-pew?
Do the machines in the Thargoid bases have any significance or were they just intended to get our attention?
Has anybody noticed whether all the pre-2.4 permit-locked systems are all still the same?
Has anybody attempted to decode all the octal(?) numbers displayed in our original scans?
Is there any reason to continue trying to figure out who the Black Flight are?
Anybody got any other plausible ideas that don't directly involve pew-pew?

I know we haven't had long to figure stuff out yet, and it's likely there haven't been many clues made available yet, but I was just wondering what else people are doing aside from buying AX missiles like they're fidget-spinners.

Better check the alien discussion: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/forumdisplay.php/217-Aliens

Lots of stuff happening that is non-combat as we have basically far more questions that answers. Heck, we dont even have any actual evidence the thargoids we are encountering are the same one's that go around blowing stuff up. Or why that is happening in the first place. And where the other thargoids are, whether the old scouts we found are still operating or have been wholly replaced by the new ones etc. The numbers have been decoded and are an easter egg reference to the days of old btw.

....and now, according to Obsidian Ant, there is a crashed ship that fails to conform with any human or Thargoid ship yet seen.....the mystery deepens.

I am also still curious as to what they do with the humans they collect ;).

Offering up meta alloys to attract more?

Seeing what else they like from the base

That is my next plan, getting 15 or so Thargoid cargos from the base to see if they like them and will call in more

I wonder if the Guardians, or old Guardian tec will re-enter the plot at some stage down the line. (The Thargoids intensely dislike anything brought from the relics.) I never thought they fulfilled their potential and perhaps they haven't ...... yet.

And should we be shooting the escape pods to kill the humans inside, to spare them from .... we don't now what !

We should collect 'em and take them back. I mean, that could have been you in one of those pods at some point. ;)

Shoot the Pods?
Good god man, rescue them!

I've been scooping up pods from the signal sources, leaving meta alloys in exchange/to distract the thargoid. Until I see any direct unprovoked Thargoid aggression (ie Thargoid dropping in on someone not carrying any dangerous/offensive cargo and blasting em away) I am engaging in peaceful negotiations with them. Meta alloy to fuel their giblets for a human body.

Nice to see that 2.4 raised some interest in salvaging escape pods. Until now, these were mostly disregarded or even shot at by our altruistic player base. :D
