Thargoid pulled me out of my Hi-Wake Escape !

I haven't encountered one yet so the chance to steal anything hasn't arisen. Is it possible to fight one solo?

There is a thread of one being successfully fought solo.

If you can't find any, go one jump away from Merope or Maia, in the Pleiades Sector, then just cruise around and watch for USS signals to target and jump to - they are very very common. You don't have to engage them if you don't wish to, but if you do ........

Cool - thanks. I'm having fun harvesting high intensity conflict zones but I might try one of those. I thought after the most recent community goal there would be some Thargoid specific engineering added. Guess not.

No, but some anti-Thargoid missiles & a scanner :)

I tried to keep up with one after it scanned me and then turned and flew away. I was in an engineered cutter with 7A thrusters (G5). I was able to match it's speed at my max boost rate, around 450 m/s.

Later I got pulled out of hyperspace by three of them, my ship lost all power and was completrly dead for about 30 seconds. After i regained power I turned to line up shots with my ax missiles but they high-waked out and left.

So can you get away from them if you snatch a TS while they are there?

Sounds like you need >450 speed and to get >5km away to high wake?

I've heard different speeds, some say 350, others say they move at over 500. Seems like most people are saying you can outrun them if you can boost around 450-500. For my encounters they seemed to be traveling at around 450 right before they waked out. I'm heading back to Palin to see if I can get more out of my thrusters :)

Got to a damaged pod and scooped it up just as a Thargoid was about to scan it, was ready to flee but it didn’t seem to mind and left peacefully

Hehe. I've just been dropping in to the instance, looking what's there, then scooping things ike Thargoid Probes while the Thargoid is preoccupied with scanning me. Just boosting away once I've got one (Cobra does 570m/s) and low waking out to look for another NHSS.

I upset a Thargoid really badly !

I stole a Thargoid probe from under its nose with a limpet. That made it see red !
I tried boosting and running but couldn't get away, and the probe started to degrade my ship, so I ejected it, thinking the Thargoid would stop to pick it up.

It didn't. So I hi-waked out to avoid mass lock ...... and it followed me and pulled me out of hi-wake !

Totally disabled the ship for about 30 seconds to a minute, so dead I thought the computer had crashed .... until everything came online, and there was the Thargoid sitting there in the distance, far enough for me to low-wake jump away.

There's a lot of good content available from these 'goids ! [up]

Anybody else successfully stolen stuff from under their noses? I'm thinking the escape pods would give me a better chance, as I'm not equipped with corrosion resistant cargo modules.

Yeah same, they only turned hostile if I wasn't quick enough ;), like if my damn FDL yet again refuses to pick up cargo!
Btw it boosts at 494 m/s & reasonable easily escapes them, oh & my Eagle would overtake them & beat them to there own high wake :D.

How quickly did it EMP you after being hyperdicted?

<--- is worried about the paper mache hull of my FDL! ;)

EMP was only a few seconds after coming out of hyperspace. I think I boosted once but it wasn't enough to get away. It was a bit tense to sit helpless in a quiet dark cockpit with those things behind you. I don't think they even scanned me, they just EMP'd me and took off. Maybe thargoid pranksters :) I was loaded with ax missiles and they still didn't attack.

I don't have hull upgrades either in my cutter, just size 8 shields which I hear their weapons bypass anyway.

Yes, I've just engineered the hull of my Python to be stronger, as shields appear to be useless. I will also have to give silent running a go and see what happens.

Shields are not useless, they are absorbing some damage, see the various youtube videos, but yes some damage does get to the hull.

I briefly & purposely stayed too close to 1 to get it to shoot me (to see how my FDL fared), shlds were slightly weakened (1st ring pale), but I took 14% hull damage! No module damage in that time.

Thargoids are fast but they are erractic in their pursuit, so pretty easy to run away from. They have a masslock factor of 30 which masslocks everyship you can currently have.
