Thargoid Rodeo Challenge

Some time ago now I had a series of adventures culminating with me riding on a Thargoid using the SRV.

Anyway, in some downtime during the current Thargoid Structure Scramble Buckyball Race I went to visit Research Base LV87 on planet A 4 A in the HIP 17403 system (that's the one with the wrecked Thargoid ship where you can pick up Thargoid Sensors). There I ran into a Thargoid scanning the base and decided to try the same thing again.

After a number of SRV encounters with various types of Thargoid ..

.. I finally managed to land on the thing again and was able to hang on for a pretty decent 1 minute 23 seconds!

And thus the THARGOID RODEO CHALLENGE was born.

Basically, how long can you stay on a Thargoid in an SRV?

So here's how to do it.

1) Fly to HIP 17403 A 4 A and land at Research Base LV87 (which you should see in your Nav' panel once you're close).
2) You may be lucky and encounter a Thargoid on arrival, otherwise just keep logging out to the main menu and then logging back in again. Eventually you'll see the tell-time circular target icon appear on your radar which means you've got an instance with a Thargoid in it.
3) Deploy the SRV, drive a short distance away from your ship, turn around, drive back and use boost to hop up onto the back of it (remember that your boosters will retract and stop functioning when you get close to your ship and don't forget to use the handbrake to avoid driving straight off the other side again).
4) Shuffle around to face the Thargoid (which should still be scanning the base) and then select the option to Dismiss the ship (which will then take off with you on the back of it).
5) Keep the SRV stable as it rises high into the air, work out your ground velocity and counter it with boost if necessary to push yourself back towards the Thargoid.
6) The Thargoid will briefly chase your departing ship but should then come back down to resume scanning the base.
7) Attempt to land the SRV on the unsuspecting Thargoid (this may well take several attempts as it's slightly hard to predict in which direction your departing ship will take the SRV - where you park on its back when you dismiss it makes a significant difference but it will take some trial and error to perfect).
8) Once on the Thargoid try to stay on as long as possible using wheel drive, handbrake and thrusters as required (just like a real bucking bronco it will try to throw you off).
9) Upload video evidence of your best attempt to youtube and link to this forum thread to receive wild applause!

Good luck!

Trust you to turn this into a challenge!
You madman :ROFLMAO:

Forgot to say, even if you fail do feel free to post videos or screenshots of your attempts, the fails can be as spectacular as the successes!

In this one a Medusa literally smacked me back down to the ground and sent me sailing off down into the nearby crater.
