It seems obvious now, from the UA, to the Barnacles, and now to the Thargoid Cyclops ships, that the Thargoids mesh mechanical and organic notions together. Rather than construct their machinery, they grow them.
An interesting maybe to pursue here is that the Thargoids ARE the ships... the line between machine and pilot is lost to them. Their version of "making a machine or vehicle" is as alien to us as everything else about them.
The elegance of a grown starship is that it starts as a seed, with all the encoded "grow into this" data encoded into its.. DNA-analog. Like an acorn growing into an Oak tree, it emerges out in stages, in a really fascinating development of large life form designs from a tiny seed/cell- how one or a few dozen cells are programmed to divide and split in ways to result in an end form.

Explore more on this as you will. The point is: The Thargoids seems to like this mechanism to make their devices. They start with a "seed" and let it grow out in life-like ways to make their ships.
Maybe this is more efficient, maybe its cost effective. but WOW is it beyond our current understanding. Sure we would LOVE to have a bag of "Seeker missile seeds, just add water and sunlight", but yeah- we dont have the slightest glimmer of knowledge of such DNA encoded embryology as seen above. Not just how it even works [how code cascades out and is timed from the original DNA instruction], but much less how we could design DNA code from scratch to grow into something.. on purpose!
So wow the Thargoids are definitely more advanced than us. Their genetic tinkering skills alone are astounding. BUT there is another level to explore; If they can engineer an embryo to do literally whatever life form or mechanical shape they want... then what is the concept of a user operating those devices to the Thargoids? Wouldnt a ship or device simply BE a thargoid?
If the line between "me and my machinery" is lost- by cultural choice or by inevitability, and both are integrated so fully... then a baby Thargoid may be designed as "you are going to be cyclops variant 35f 6b1", and grow into literally BEING the ship. If they are that alien, and that advanced, maybe our human concepts of Ship and Pilot are hopelessly primitive notions.
So with this line of thought, it makes the Barnacles and UAs look more and more like baby Thargoids.. and growing Ships/bases at their early stages, doesnt it? I may be incorrect on some of the particulars, but I think I got the Ebryonic part right.
