Can't help agreeing with both sides of the argument here.
In summary, the game is a mile wide and an inch deep, in certain rare and generally unknown places it's a foot deep, but you won't see that from more than six inches away.
I'd be content if the mystery trailblazers were able to continue with the metagaming to crack the puzzles, but once a puzzle method has been figured out, it needs to be followed up with an in-game method for others to follow.
That, plus many more in-game clues and breadcrumbs.
