Can someone explain to me why the Thargoid surface sites are not working? They do not want to grab the Thargoind relics to display the map, or am I doing something wrong? Has anyone ran on to this problem, or was it disabled?

what did you try sensor or probe... or both
Just to be sure... you need to abandon the item, not jettison it... that caught me a few times.
Jettison has your player retain ownership of the item (i.e if someone scoops it, it's marked stolen) while abandoned removes your ownership.
Functionally, they both jet the cargo... but the ownership seems to matter.
