Thargoid titan mats

Ok, so I’ve filled up the hardened surface , phasetube membrane stuff as well as the heat vent somethings off of the titan. Now I’ve been poking around the edge of cloud taking out the caustic generators for their materials and getting the odd caustic shard.

I’m looking for more caustic shards and crystals, are they easier to collect once the titan has blown up and poke around the debris field until it dissipates, as they’ll be gone by then one assumes?

Not sure if I’ll be needing these materials or not but decided to grab em while I can , first time attacking a titan or ax at all really. So the crystals and shards ?

The only things you can't get from the wreck are:
  • Titan Maw Tissue Sample (Deep, Normal, Partial)
  • Titan Tissue Sample (Deep, Normal, Partial)
  • Hardened Surface Fragments
  • Phase Membrane Residue
  • Heat Exposure Specimen

Great thank you , got the last three , should I try and get the first two at all.

Obviously the question becomes academic in a few hours anyway once this titan blows up. So I’ll hold off on the crystals and shards until it blows up.

Depends... there's no use for them afaik other than to sell, war progress or just for collection sake.

But that's like many other Thargoid things... no use for them at this point other than the war effort. I personally just like to have some stashed for a rainy day.

Since Titan Drive Components are now a hot commodity again…


I spent around 45 minutes today at each of 2 different Titan wrecks today and came up with exactly 0 TDC’s.

Are they just that rare? Was I just that unlucky?

What’s the latest best way to find these nowadays?

Literally got one in the last 24h. Just roam the sites, use best sensors.

will it be possible to get the caustic tissue sample now that all the titans are gone? I know technically we do not need to unlock the caustic sinks but I would still like too. I tried to get some last night but I could not target the caustic launchers to initiate a xeno scan

I think the caustic tissue sample is a random spawn around the dead Titans. I have collected a number of those that way.

Can confirm the caustic tissue samples are around a dead titan , just picked up three as well as 3 or 4 drive components. Were not not super abundant, slightly less so than the caustic crystals I was mainly looking for.

hi thanks. i found a bunch too along with a thargoid heart and some meta alloys (i need a bunch more to unlock the bobble head so i gess i am stuck in this ship now with the corrosive resistant racks.
probably REALLY stupid question as i realise now its a trek back to the hospital ship... i know at the moment the caustic launcher is available to buy BUT can we still unlock it as well or has the option to do this been removed now? i really should have checked that before i spent 90 mins getting the 5 caustic samples!.

if there is absolutely no ability to unlock them in the megaship (even if it is technically not needed) then there is no point me going back.

Absolutely no idea, others more knowledgeable will need to say.

I was just running around for the caustic crystals , also picking up meta alloys, hearts , bio storage , various tissue samples etc etc etc. , storing it all on my carrier and I’ll just keep hold of it all for now.

to answer my question after doing the 10 jumps in my tiny fuel tank ship...

nope no need to get the stuff for the unlock as it is actually unlocked at the medical ship (as opposed to being locked but on temp sale for the titan war)
